Ravens-Eagles Take to the Skies to Duke it OutPosted by: Anthony Yaylor
Missed opportunities are something that always comes back to haunt us. The Baltimore Ravens, who recently missed a perfect opportunity to usurp the AFC North from the Pittsburgh Steelers this past online NFL betting weekend, are trying not to become too daunted from their missed possibilities. In Week 14, the Ravens suffered a heartfelt 30-23 loss to the New England Patriots. Before that game Baltimore was 1-game behind the Steelers and had they won they would’ve tied with Pittsburgh atop the AFC North. Now the Steelers have a 2-game lead over the Ravens, but there’s still enough time for Baltimore to scoop up the North. Granted they would the Steelers to lose a couple of games, which the sportsbooks don’t think they will, but it is still easier to win the North than trying to beat the 10-3 Oakland Raiders or 8-5 Denver Broncos for the Wild Card spot.
In Week 15 the Ravens will once again try to secure a spot in the postseason by facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles. The eagles will be coming in with a 5-8 record after losing the last 4 games consecutively. The Eagles will be traveling to Maryland for this one to face off at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Ultimately this plays in the Ravens favor since the Eagles are 1-6 on the road while the Ravens are 5-2 at home. With that in mind, let’s see what the online NFL betting odds have to say about this pairing.
NFL Odds – Week 15 – Sunday, December 18th
Baltimore Ravens -6 (-105) 40½ (-110) -260
Considering the previously mentioned winning and losing streaks, it makes perfect sense for the NFL betting lines to come out in favor of the Ravens. At one point during the season, the Eagles seemed like a sure bet for the playoffs. But since then the complete opposite is true. In fact, over the last 10 weeks, Philadelphia has failed to post two wins back to back. That type of inconsistency will always be detrimental to your team and the Eagles have found that out the hard way.
Heading into this game it’s clear that the Ravens possess the advantage. Baltimore will be coming into this game with one of the best defenses in the league. Specifically, Baltimore’s defense ranks as the 11th best against the pass and they are the absolute best against the run. Their total defense ranks as the 4th best in the NFL and they are giving up the 4th fewest amount of points. With those figures in mind, it is become abundantly clear why the online NFL betting odds are favoring the Ravens this Sunday.
