So far there is little difference with the Raiders under their new leadership than was the case before they arrived. Head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock are discovering just how difficult this turn-around project is going to be. Oakland was outclassed last week in an NFL betting home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a great example of just how far the Raiders have to go to become a contender. Minnesota blew a winnable week two game at Green Bay. Specifically, quarterback Kirk Cousins again proved why he is falling short of the hype.
Oakland Raiders Vs. Minnesota Vikings
Last week the Raiders were dominated by the Chiefs is a 28-10 loss. Oakland is now 1-1 both straight up and against the spread with two under. NFL metrics tell the story of a Raiders team that is simply not up to par. Oakland ranks 23rd for total offense and 25th for scoring. In the same way, the Defense ranks 27th in the NFL and dead last against the pass. Quarterback Derek Carr was not on target in the loss to the Chiefs. The Minnesota defense is stronger than Kansas City’s and a hostile Minnesota crowd will be a challenge.
Players to Watch: (QB Derek Carr, 70% COMP, 457 YDS, 7.1 AVG, 2 TD, 2 INT, 87.7 RTG), RB Josh Jackson (35 RSH, 184 YDS, 5.3 YPC, 2 TD,), WR Tyrell Williams (11 REC, 151 YDS, 13.7 YPC, 2 TD), TE Daren Walter (13 REC, 133 YDS, 10.2 YPC, 0 TD), WR Hunter Renfrow (6 REC, 43 YDS, 7.2 YPC, 0 TD)
Minnesota is 1-1 both straight up and against the spread with two under. Accordingly, the Vikings are coming off a 21-16 loss at Green Bay. Minnesota was driving for the winning score late when disaster struck. To be exact Cousins made an absurd decision to throw into a crowd and was intercepted in the end zone on first down. While the quarterback admitted that he can’t do that he still did and it cost the Vikings a comeback victory. Cousins play has been erratic all season and has become a concern. His celebrated arrival is no longer such.
