Oakland Raiders vs. Dallas Cowboys Preseason Odds and Preview – Saturday, August 26th

As September draws nearer, a multitude of online football betting opportunities emerge. Right now, players can get their fill by making some bets on NFL preseason matches. While not as riveting as the regulars season, the preseason allows NFL betting players to get a feel for which teams could have some potential upside in the coming weeks.

One team that certainly fits that description is the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys shocked the nation last year when they took two rookies and conquered the NFC East. Unfortunately for Dallas, one of those rookies – Ezekiel Elliot, will be suspended for nearly half the season. Will they be able to overcome this hiccup? We’ll get a glimpse at that answer this upcoming Saturday, when the Cowboys host the Oakland Raiders. Let’s find out what online sportsbooks have to say about this contest.

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders were one of 2016’s most pleasant surprises: a team that everybody ruled out due to a horrendous defense that was carried into the playoffs by the pure heart Derek Carr displayed all season long. In his 3rd year in the league, Carr posted a stellar 28 touchdown, 6 interceptions, 96.7 passer rating performance that allowed Oakland to finish 12-4. However, since they share a division with the Chiefs, Oakland finished 2nd in the AFC West. They would not be kept from the playoffs, as the Raiders secured a Wild Card berth in the final weeks of the season.

It was a great finish in Jack Del Rio’s second year as the Raider’s’ head coach. It’s no understatement to say that no one was picking Oakland to make the playoffs. They might have been able to make a legitimate push in the postseason too, had it not been for Carr breaking his leg right before the season ended. Carr had practically piggybacked this team into the postseason and without him they were literally unable to win a game.

Questions will naturally surround the Raiders this season, as no one is certain how Carr will rebound from his injury. On top of that, what Carr accomplished last season – what making the playoffs with a horrendous defense, is nothing short of magic. Will he really be able to deliver such otherworldly results once again?

Dallas Cowboys

Like the Raiders, the Cowboys were one of 2016’s biggest surprises. But now that the team has to deal with the aforementioned injury to their star running back, online NFL betting fans will be quick to write the Cowboys off.

And it makes sense too. A lot of Dallas’ 2016 success came at the hands of Dak Prescott, who displayed the pocket presence of a seasoned veteran. But Prescott was able to look so cool and calm because when things didn’t go his way he could simply hand the ball off and let Elliott carry the weight for a little.

Without this crutch, it would not be surprising to see Prescott crack a little. In the NFC East, this could prove deadly, as there are three other teams who are considered playoff contenders.
