Preparing for Online NFL Betting Rivalry in Week 8
Posted by: Mike Davis
This online NFL betting Sunday, NFL sportsbook players will have an opportunity to wager on one of the league’s all-time greatest rivalries; the Dallas Cowboys taking on the Washington Redskins. This rivalry started out due to riveting contests between both teams early on but now it looks bitterness was destined for these two franchises. How could America’s team not have beef with the team that hails from America’s capitol?
But in addition to the rivalry narrative, Sunday’s contest has added importance for two teams trying to stay alive in the divisional race if not the Wild Card race. Both the Redskins and Cowboys are tied at 3-3 in the NFC East and are looking to play catch up to the Philadelphia Eagles – the winningest team in pro football. Let’s take a look at what football betting sites are predicting for the next chapter of this hallowed rivalry.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins – Sunday, October 29th
When: 4:25 pm ET
Where: FedEx Field
Stream: Fox Sports Go, NFL Game Pass
Online NFL Betting Odds:
Dallas Cowboys -1 ½ (-110) 49 ½ (-110) -125
Washington Redskins +1 ½ (-110) 49 ½ (-110) +105
At 3-3, the Cowboys are having trouble living up to their preseason expectations. Most online NFL betting fans were expecting a fierce battle in the NFC East this season, but most were expecting Dallas to come out of the feud decisively. But following their playoff loss last season, the Boys just don’t seem like the team we saw last year. The Cowboys’ offensive line isn’t as dominating as it has been, Ezekiel Elliott isn’t delivering the monstrous runs that he’s known for, and the franchise has had to place entirely too much hope on Dak Prescott – who is more of a game-manager than a game-winner.
The Cowboys are coming off a 40-10 pummeling over the San Francisco 49ers. That win marked the first time that Dallas has performed at the level of last year’s squad. However, considering who they were facing, the winless Niners, their performance should not be overvalued. The Cowboys have not beaten any elite teams this season, with their only wins coming against San Fran, the Cardinals and the Giants. Blowing out a winless team isn’t much of an accomplishment, even if Cowboys fans want to make it seem like one. If the Cowboys, who are online NFL betting favorites ahead of this Sunday’s game, can manage to pull one over the Redskins, then we’ll start considering this team as a playoff contender.
The Redskins had a rough start to the season by losing a 30-17 match to the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington bounced back and won their next two games in a row before losing 29-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Losing to the Eagles and Chiefs isn’t a bad thing. However, considering that Washington has faced Philadelphia twice this season and hasn’t beaten them once, losing to Philadelphia is a very bad thing for the Redskins. Particularly because they now have zero chance of usurping the Eagles in the division. Unless Philadelphia falls apart in the second stretch of 2017, the East should end up in the Eagles hands.
