Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles 18-12 win over the Falcons in their season opener wasn’t the most impressive outing we’ve seen from Philadelphia. The defense had a pretty good day as they held the Falcons to a small 12 points on the day. On top of that, they held that dynamic offense to just 325 yards on the day. However, Philly only racked up 245 on the day. With that in mind, it’s pretty clear that Philadelphia’s defense rescued them on that day. While it’s true that Philly is currently contending with their backup quarterback, it’s also true that  they beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl with a backup. This past weekend the Bucs gave up 482 defensively so we can anticipate a better offensive outing from the Eagles this upcoming Sunday.

Players to Watch: Nick Foles (117 passing yards, 0 TD, 1 INT), Jay Ajayi (62 rushing yards, 2 TD, 0 F), and Zach Ertz (48 receiving yards, 0 TD, 5 REC).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Without a doubt, the Bucs were one of this weekend’s biggest shockers. Facing the New Orleans Saints, many were expecting Tampa Bay to under perform on their way to a Week 1 loss. Instead, we saw Ryan Fitzpatrick keep pace with Drew Brees. Both Fitzpatrick and Brees are veterans, but it was shocking to see him keep up with Brees. Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson lead the way for Fitzpatrick, with both players racking up over 140 receiving yards. This Sunday provides us an opportunity to find out if the Bucs’ debut was a fluke or if they really have something here. They certainly have the talent on paper but we’ll have to see how they fare against a very tough Philadelphia defense.

Players to Watch: Ryan Fitzpatrick (417 passing yards, 4 TD, 0 INT), Peyton Barber (69 rushing yards, 0 TD, 0 F), and Mike Evans (147 receiving yards, 1 TD, 7 REC).
