Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears 2019 NFL Betting Odds

Posted by: Anthony Yaylor

At the onset of the 2019 season is renewed optimism for the Packers and their fans.  Clearly the Mike McCarthy era had grown stale.  While the head coach led the Pack to the playoffs eight straight seasons, he became an exhausted volcano.  Superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers tuned McCarthy out.  And the last two seasons were full of failure for betting on NFL games.  Green Bay failed to make the playoffs and McCarthy was fired with a month to go in the 2018 season.  Counter to that was the post-season resurgence of the Bears under Matt Nagy.

Green Bay Packers

Matt LaFleur arrives as head coach of the Packers.  So far, he has been the breath of fresh air that everyone said was needed in Green Bay. LaFleur was Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator in 2018.  Additionally, he comes from the Sean McVay coaching tree.  McVay turned the Los Angeles Rams into betting on NFL games sensation.  Thus, anyone attached to him has become attractive.  Aaron Rodgers has been playing nice with McVay thus far.  Certainly, the Green Bay quarterback is mercurial and can be difficult.  He got the coaching change he wanted.  Therefore, Rodgers is out of scapegoats.

Players to Watch:  QB Aaron Rodgers (97.6 RTG, 62,3 COMP, 4442 YDS, 25 TD, 2 INT), RB Aaron Jones (728 YDS, 5.5 YPC, 8 TD, 26 REC, 206 YDS, 1 TD), WR Davante Adams (111 REC, 1386 YDS, 12.5 YPC, 13 TD), WR Geronimo Allison (20 REC, 303 YDS, 15.1 YPC, 2 TD), TE Jimmy Graham (55 REC, 636 YDS, 11.6 YPC, 2 TD), PK Mason Crosby (81% FG, 34/36 XP, 124 PTS)

Chicago Bears

A clear difference was seen last year in head coach Matt Nagy’s first year as head coach.  Nagy led the Bears to a 12-4 record and their first playoff berth since 2010.  The big question for 2019 is if last year was a fluke.  Cause by last year’s results is expectations through the roof in the Windy City.  Nobody will be looking past the Bears this year.  The element of surprise is gone.  Of great concern is the departure of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to Denver.  Fangio did so well with the Bears that he’s now a head coach.

Players to Watch:  QB Mitchell Trubisky (95.4 RTG, 67% COMP, 3223 YDS, 24 TD, 12 INT), RB Tarik Cohen (444 YDS, 4.5 YPC, 3 TD, 71 REC, 725 YDS, 10.2 AVG, 5 TD), WR Allen Robinson (55 REC, 754 YDS, 12.7 AVG, 4 TD), WR Taylor Gabriel (67 REC, 688 YDS, 10.3 YPC, 2 TD) TE Trey Burton (54 REC, 589 YDS, 10.5 YPC, 6 TD)

In this situation, the Packers are a live dog with the NFL odds.  As mentioned earlier the Bears are not a great value at home against Green Bay.  Concurrently there is a sense of renewal with Rodgers and the Pack!
