Buffalo Bills vs. Carolina Panthers Betting – Sunday, September 17th

Online NFL Wagering Favoring Carolina Again in Week 2

Posted by: Charlie Smith

One of the biggest online NFL wagering upsets to come out of Week 1’s action involved the reigning Super Bowl champions losing their 2017 opener to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are in no way, shape or form a mediocre squad, but there weren’t that many NFL betting sportsbook players who could’ve foreseen New England losing. After all, this is the team with Tom Brady under center, Bill Belichick calling the shots and the one that’s won 5 Super Bowls in recent years.

Yet despite all these things going for the Pats, they still succumbed to the Chiefs 42-27. It was unprecedented to say the least and the ones who have most been affected by this outcome are AFC East fans. New England has had a hold on the division for longer than anybody can recall but now that they’re 0-1, the other teams in the East are starting to lick their chops. Like the Buffalo Bills, who will be facing the Carolina Panthers this upcoming Sunday. Let’s take a look at what NFL betting sites have to say about this Week 2 matchup.

Carolina Panthers -7 (-120)  42 ½ (-110)

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are coming off a 7-9 season that saw the franchise finish 3rd in the AFC East. The Bills were extremely disappointed with the year’s results and decided to part ways with head coach Rex Ryan in Week 16. Anthony Lynn stepped in as interim coach but Sean McDermott will be entering the 2017 as the Bills’ head coach.

The Bills opened up their 2017 season by facing their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets. It was a tough game, but Buffalo was able to triumph in the end 21-12. The Bills’ offense did most of the grunt work, gaining 190 yards on the ground and with quarterback Tyrod Taylor finishing the day with 218 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 92.0 passer rating. The Bills defense also performed well holding the Jets to 214 total yards and forcing 2 turnovers. Buffalo will be looking to build on their success this upcoming Sunday.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are coming off a 6-10 season that saw Carolina finish last in the NFC South. It was not the follow up to winning the NFC that Carolina wanted but the Panthers are nonetheless confident that they can make the playoff cut this season.

Carolina got an early start to accomplishing that goal this past Sunday when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-3. The Panthers finished the day with 287 yards to the Niners’ 217. Both teams suffered 2 turnovers but it was the success that Carolina enjoyed in the ground that ultimately led to their victory.

The Panthers are coming into this contest as online NFL wagering favorites and will be looking to come out on top in their home opener. The money line hasn’t come out yet but it stands to reason that Carolina will be heavily favored as well.
