Online NFL Betting Sizes Up Week 6’s Thursday Night Match
Posted by: Mike Davis
The 2017 online NFL betting season continues this week with keynote matchups that are bound to play a hand in determining this year’s playoff lineup. This Thursday Night Football matchup fits that bill with the Carolina Panthers, one of the frontrunners to win the NFC, host the Philadelphia Eagles – the frontrunners in the NFC East. Unquestionably, this will be one of the better matchups of the weekend. Let’s take a look at what kind of turnout football betting sites are predicting.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Carolina Panthers – Thursday, October 12th
When: 8:25 pm ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte
Stream: CBS Sports, NFL Game Pass
Online NFL Betting Odds:
Philadelphia Eagles +3 (-104) 46 (-110)
Carolina Panthers -3 (-116) 46 (-110)
At 4-1, the Eagles have one of the best records in the NFC and even more so in the NFC East. Many online NFL betting fans felt like the East was going to be one of the toughest divisions in football and that it would be either the Dallas Cowboys or New York Giants calling the shots in the division. But the nearest threat the Eagles are currently facing are the 2-2 Washington Redskins. However, since Philadelphia already defeated Washington once this season, it’s safe to say that the dirty birds don’t have too much to worry about as of now.
The Eagles fly into this contest sporting one of the best offenses in the league. The Birds are 6th in scoring, have the 3rd best total offense and 9th best passing offense. Philadelphia will undoubtedly be trying to run the score board up this Sunday and they shouldn’t have much of a problem. This past Sunday, the Panthers allowed Matt Stafford and the lions to score 24. We’ll have to see just how many Carson Wentz and the Eagles can put up on them.
Like the Eagles, the Panthers also march into this Week 6 matchup sporting a 4-1 record. So far this season, the Panthers have racked up an impressive resume, beating the New England Patriots two weeks ago as well as picking up a 27-24 over the Detroit Lions this past Sunday. However, it might not be enough to beat the Atlanta Falcons in the South. Atlanta is currently sitting at 3-1 and enjoyed a Bye Week in Week 5. We’ll have to pay special attention to this battle in the South as the season goes on.
The Panthers come into this game with a capable offense and a foreboding defense. Carolina currently ranks 8th in the NFL in points allowed, 3rd in total defense, 5th against the pass and 7th against the run. The Panthers will need this type of performance this Thursday if they are to deter the Eagles’ explosive offense. Philadelphia is explosive both on the ground and through the air so seeing how this matchup turns out is one of the most intriguing storylines surrounding this Week 6 matchup.
