Baltimore Ravens vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview – Sunday, September 24th

Online NFL Betting Sizes up Ravens-Jags Week 3 Matchup

Posted by: Anthony Yaylor

The Baltimore Ravens kicked off the 2017 season by posting a 2-0 record and it was unexpected to say the least. Baltimore has posted two mediocre records over the last couple of seasons; 5-11 two years ago and an 8-8 record last season. And considering that the Ravens share a division with the Pittsburgh Steelers, not too many football betting sportsbooks were picking them to win the AFC North this season.

But right now, the Ravens are neck-and-neck with the Steelers at the top of the division with their 2-0 record. And with Baltimore now owning two wins over divisional opponents, it’s safe to say that the Ravens are feeling pretty good about their chances in the division. Granted, they’ll need to keep building on their early season success. Perhaps by picking up a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend?

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens will need to make some online NFL betting adjustments ahead of this weekend’s match, considering that they’ll be traveling to the United Kingdom to take on the Jags at Wembley stadium. This is another of the league’s abroad matches to help increase the NFL’s popularity outside of the US. Nevertheless, the pitch might have some impact on the game.

Either way the Ravens have the advantage this Sunday. Through 2 weeks this season, the Ravens have managed to average 5 points allowed per contest. That’s the second best average in the league and it’s indicative of just how ferocious this Baltimore defense is. The Ravens faced the Bengals opening week and shut them out 20-0 before delivering a 24-10 finish against the Cleveland Browns the following week.

However, it should be noted that without their stellar defense the Ravens wouldn’t be having much success this season. Joe Flacco is currently sitting on an 88.5 passer rating and only has 3 touchdowns to 2 interceptions. Furthermore, the Ravens’ offense is currently 22nd in the league in total yards and 30th in passing yards. If Baltimore truly wants to win the North this season, they’ll need a better effort on offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are 1-1 so far but that’s still good enough to tie them the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans for 1st place in the AFC South. Jacksonville stunned the online NFL betting nation when they delivered an unexpected 29-7 upset to the Houston Texans on opening week. The Texans are ubiquitously considered to be one of the best teams in the league; they have a good running game and a great defense. So when the Jags bullied them so severely, many people were left asking if the Jags were really that good.

NFL betting sites got an answer to that question this past weekend when the Jags failed to measure up to the to the Tennessee Titans 37-16. The biggest obstacle of the day was Blake Bortles, who threw 2 interceptions to finish with a QBR on the day of 10.4. With Bortles under center this Sunday, it doesn’t matter where the Jags and Ravens play: Baltimore will have a field day defensively.
