Online NFL Betting Sizes up AFC East Rivalry
Posted by: Mike Davis
After madness reigned in the AFC East, the New England Patriots were finally able to restore online NFL betting order in the division. The reigning Super Bowl champions currently led the AFC East, with their 4-2 record. However, the division is still very much up for grabs and had the New York Jets not been robbed of a victory this past Sunday, the Jets would be leading the East right now.
This Sunday, the Jets will have an opportunity to rebound from that devastating loss to the Pats as they travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. This will mark the second time New York has squared off against their AFC East rivals, with the Jets taking the first round 20-6. What are online sportsbooks predicting for this weekend’s action?
New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins – Sunday, October 22nd
When: 1:00 pm ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
Stream: CBS Sports, NFL Game Pass
Online NFL Betting Lines:
New York Jets +3 (-101) 37 ½ (-110) +155
Miami Dolphins -3 (-119) 37 ½ (-110) -180
New York Jets
The Jets fly into this Week 7 matchup sporting a 3-3 record that ranks the franchise last in the AFC East. However, the Bills and Dolphins have already gone through their Bye Week this season, so the Jets have played in more games than both those teams and have subsequently endured more losses than both those contenders. The Jets have suffered losses against the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and New England Patriots this season. New York has managed to triumph over the Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns. Facing the Dolphins for the second time this season, it seems that online NFL betting bookmakers were not impressed by the Jets performance in the first round.
The Dolphins swim into this Sunday’s matchup with a 3-2 record that ties Miami with the Buffalo Bills for the No. 2 spot in the AFC East. Miami is coming off a massive 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons that left betting football online players wondering whether the Fins are finally starting to get their stuff together or if Atlanta has already started to decline. It’s hard to get a read on Miami with Jay Cutler as their quarterback. The team has been able to pick up wins over the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans and the Falcons. The Falcons are a decent team but the consensus isn’t out on the other two. And considering that the Dolphins have lost to the Jets and the Saints this season, the consensus isn’t out on them either.
The Dolphins are pegged as the favorites this Sunday and will need a big day out of Cutler. Against the Falcons, Cutler managed to throw for 151 yards, 2 touchdowns and a single interception to finish the day with a 76.7 passer rating. New York has the 15th best pass defense in the nation so Cutler will certainly be put up to the test come Sunday.
