Online NFL Betting Showdown in the AFC West

Posted by: Charlie Smith

Online NFL betting fans betting on the league’s Week 6 action will have the opportunity to wager on an AFC West rivalry match between the Oakland Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders are coming off a disheartening 30-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens that marked the franchise’s 3rd straight defeat. But Oakland was without starting quarterback Carr in 2 of those games (technically he went down in their 2nd straight loss) and they’ll be happy to have him back in the starting lineup this weekend. What kind of odds are sports wagering sites giving the Raiders in Carr’s return?

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers come into this Sunday’s contest sporting a 1-4 that pegs them as the worst team in the AFC West. Los Angeles’ lone victory of the season came this past Sunday, when they traveled to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Giants. The Giants have had a pitiful season so far this year and the same was true this past weekend, as the Chargers scraped past New York 27-22. But despite winning their first game of the season, Los Angeles has plenty of steps to take before they’re considered an elite football team.

Fans looking to place NFL bets on this AFC West matchup will have to wait a little longer for the odds to come out. As of now, it looks like the online NFL betting bookmakers are having a hard time figuring this one out. Wisdom, however, would advise bettors to avoid backing the Chargers this Sunday. Los Angeles has struggled all season long and a win against the Giants isn’t going to be the tipping point for the franchise.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders looked like a playoff contender all the way up until Week 3, when they were shocked by the Washington Redskins 27-10. There’s no mystery as to why the Raiders lost; Carr had a bad day and without him at his best, Oakland is not that good of a football team. This was exemplified this past Sunday when the Raiders were pecked apart by the Ravens 30-17. But now that Carr is back as the starter, Oakland fans are ready to return to their winning ways.

The only problem is that there’s no guarantee that Carr will return at 100%. As someone who has Carr on his fantasy football, there’s nothing I’d rather see than Carr come out and throw 5 touchdowns against the Chargers. But the likelihood of that happening is slim. Yea Carr suffered a devastating back injury at the end of last year’s season to only come back this year and look as elite as ever. But that was with a whole offseason of rest. This Sunday, Carr will be playing with only one week off. The hits can rack up and it wouldn’t be shocking if Carr is seeing ghosts out there this Sunday.
