The 2027 online NFL betting season keeps on rolling this week with a flurry of f matchups to keep players glued to football betting sportsbooks. There are plenty of great betting opportunities this weekend, but this Sunday’s matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets might be one of the better ones. Neither team is considered a top-threat but the close level of competition should make for some interesting lines. Let’s take a look.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets – Sunday, October 1st
When: 1:00 pm ET
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Steam: CBS Sports, NFL Game Pass
Online NFL Betting Odds:
Jacksonville Jaguars -3 ½ (-110) 40 (-105)
New York Jets+3 ½ (-110) 40 (-115)
At 2-1, the Jaguars are actually faring a lot better than any NFL betting website could have possibly imagined. The Jaguars traveled to Wembley Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens and everybody and their mother was choosing the Ravens over Jacksonville. As it turns out, only the Jaguars showed up that day as their defense forced 3 turnovers on the day and finished with a lopsided score of 44-7. Blake Bortles managed to throw for 4 touchdowns, 244 yards, 0 interceptions and a 128.2 passer rating. The Jaguars enjoyed a great day on the ground as well, racking up 166 yards on 35 carries.
However, despite the strong performance, online NFL betting fans aren’t sure if the Jaguars are actually that good of if the Ravens just had a horrible accident. That was Baltimore’s first loss of the season but then again, their two wins came against the Bengals and Browns.
The Jaguars will travel to New York with the league’s 4th best scoring offense, 23rd worst passing game, but 5th best rushing attack. Jacksonville has really been making a name for themselves on defense. Jacksonville comes into Sunday’s matchup sporting the league’s No. 1 pass defense. However, the Jaguars aren’t that great against the run, ranking 28th in the NFL through 3 weeks. With that in mind, fans can expect New York to stick to the running game this Sunday.
New York Jets
The Jets are 1-2 on the season with their first triumph of the year coming against their AFC East rivals, the Miami Dolphins, this past Sunday. Not many people were picking the Jets over the Dolphins, but Jay Cutler proved why he’s Jay Cutler once again. Cutler threw an interception in the third quarter when Miami had a chance to get back into it. New York would go on to finish the game 20-6 from there.
The Jets don’t really have a clear path to deliver an upset over the Jags this weekend. Yea Jacksonville struggles against the run, but New York isn’t great at running the ball either. Right now the Jets rank 23rd in the league with an average of 89 yards on the ground – not something that will win you a lot of football games.
