Online NFL Betting Dislikes Rodgers-less Packers
Posted by: Mike Davis
After picking apart the Detroit Lions this past Sunday, the New Orleans Saints are now poised to pummel another NFC North contender: the Green Bay Packers. However, the Pack lost their starting quarterback this past Sunday, leaving many online NFL betting pundits wondering whether the team’s season is officially down the drain. From what we saw this past Sunday – Brett Hundley desperately trying to lead an offense that was not prepared for his entrance, it’s clear that that’s definitely the case. But the Packers haven’t had much time to practice with Hundley in the starting lineup. Will a full week of practice make that much of a difference? Let’s take a gander at what NFL sportsbooks are predicting for this Week 7 matchup.
New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers – Sunday, October 22nd

Online Football Betting Lines:

Green Bay Packers +5 ½ (-106) 47 ½ (-110) +203
New Orleans Saints
The Saints come marching into this contest with a 3-2 record that ties New Orleans with the Atlanta Falcons for the No. 2 spot in the division. Before the 2017 online NFL betting season kicked off, most players betting NFL felt like the NFC South was a fairly easy division to predict. After seeing the Falcons’ high powered offense rip the NFL apart the year before, the feeling was that Atlanta would be the unquestionable champions in the NFC South. But the Falcons haven’t had the resurgence we were hoping for and it seems like that Super Bowl loss is starting to take a toll on Matt Ryan and crew. Instead, the 4-2 Carolina Panthers own the division. If New Orleans wants to usurp Carolina in the division, they’ll need to come out on top this Sunday.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers suffered their biggest loss of the season this past Sunday. Not because they suffered a tough loss against a divisional opponent, but rather because Aaron Rodgers is no longer in the starting lineup. Rodgers did for the Packers what an engine does for a car: without him the team should not be able to compete. We saw just that this past Sunday as Green Bay began to fall apart as soon as Rodgers was taken out of the game.
The 4-2 Packers will now turn to Brett Hundley, an unknown backup who finally has his time to shine. Living in Rodgers’ shadow can be difficult for a quarterback but trying to fill his shoes is even tougher. Rodgers isn’t listed on IR yet as the team is awaiting to see how his surgery pans out. One thing is for sure however, Green Bay will have to contend with Hundley under center for the next couple of weeks.
Football betting fans got their first glimpse at Rodgers’ replacement this past Sunday when Hundley came in vs. the Vikings. Hundley finished the day with 1 touchdown but 3 interceptions, so it’s safe to say that bettors should bet against Green Bay this weekend.
