NFL Week 2 Betting Odds & Picks: Vikings vs. Packers
Posted by: Anthony Yaylor
Following a letdown season in which expectations were not met Minnesota is off to a much better start for 2019. When Kirk Cousins arrived as quarterback for the 2018 season the Super Bowl was considered a fait accompli. But the Vikings never seriously contended the way they did the season before the arrival of Cousins. Green Bay is still trying to find its way under new head coach Matt LaFleur. Although the Packers scored an NFL betting Win at Chicago in week one, they are still struggling offensively. Mike McCarthy’s departure still has improved morale.
Minnesota Vikings Vs. Green Bay Packers
First-week results were impressive in a 28-12 Vikings home payout over Minnesota. Both sides of the ball were solid and the running game amassed 172 yards. Cousins had a precise performance with 8 of 10 passing for 98 yards and a touchdown. Specifically, it was the type of performance that Viking fans were expecting one year ago. Minnesota jumped out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back. Running back Dalvin Cook demonstrated that he will keep the offense balanced for Cousins. Additionally, the defense suffocated the Falcons until garbage time.
Players to Watch: QB Kirk Cousins (80% COMP, 98 YDS, 9.8 AVG, 1 TD, 0 INT, 140.8 RTG), RB Dalvin Cook (21 RSH, 111 YDS, 5.3 YPC, 2 TD), RB Alexander Mattison (9 RSH, 49 YDS, 5.4 YPC, 0 TD), WR Adam Thielen (3 REC, 453 YDS, 1 TD)
Green Bay Packers
Last week the Packers turned the page to the Matt LaFleur era. A 10-3 triumph at Chicago was not an artistic success but Packer fans and players will take it. In particular, the defense showed strength against what was a productive Bears offense from a year ago. Of great concern is an offense that ranked next to last in production after one week. Rodgers got his way after turning his back on McCarthy. But whether LaFleur can jump-start the offense remains to be seen. His track record as offensive coordinator for Tennessee for 2018 did not impress.
Players to Watch: QB Aaron Rodgers (60% COMP, 203 YDS, 6.8 AVG, 1 TD, 0 INT, 91.4 RTG), RB Aaron Jones (13 RSH, 39 YDS, 3.0 YPC, 0 TD), WR Marquez Valdes Scantling (4 REC, 52 YDS, 13.0 YPC, 0 TD), WR Devante Adams (4 REC, 36 YDS, 9.0 AVG, 0 TD), TE Jimmy Graham (3 REC, 30 YDS, 10.0 YPC, 1 TD)

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers Betting Picks
Owing to this heated NFC North rivalry is intensity a sure thing in this matchup. As was previously noted the Packers bring value to the NFL odds when hosting the Vikings. Additionally, the Vikings have not been a reliable road dog as of late. Subsequently even in bad years, Green Bay has been a good bet at Lambeau Field. Their offense should improve and the defense looks rejuvenated.
Score Prediction: Green Bay Packers 24, Minnesota Vikings 20
