New York Giants Vs. Dallas Cowboys NFL Betting odds, picks and game preview

Consider that since Jimmy Johnson left the Cowboys, they have never been the same. Dallas began a decline that they have still not recovered from. Owner Jerry Jones has proven to be a superb NFL business executive. However, his prowess as a general manager has not been good. Under his leadership, the Cowboys have been one of the most frustrating franchises on the pro football betting. By contrast, the Giants were a Super Bowl franchise not that long ago. Big Blue has fallen on hard times due to the decline of Eli Manning and a weak supporting cast.

New York Giants

On the whole, the Giants 5-11 record was not all the surprising. The warning signs have been coming for several years. Quarterback Eli Manning is decent but nowhere near his past Super Bowl form. First-year coach Pat Shurmur was dealt a bad hand and could not bluff his way to a winning season. General manager Dave Gettleman is determined to clean house. To show he has been cleaning out the locker room of bad attitudes and large contract. Problematic is a roster that is still not ready for a postseason run.

Players to Watch: QB Eli Manning (66% COMP, 4299 YDS, 21 TD, 11 INT, 92.4 RTG), RB Saquon Barkley (1307 YDS, 5.0 YPC, 11 TD, 91 REC, 721 YDS, 7.9 AVG, 4 TD), WR Sterling Shepard (66 REC, 872 YDS, 13.2 YPC, 4 TD), TE Evan Engram (46 577 YDS, 12.8 YPC, 3 TD), PK Aldrick Rosas (32-33 FG, 31-32 XP)

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas was a solid playoff team and NFC East champion last year. Specifically, their 10-6 record was indicative of a team that was good but nowhere near Super Bowl quality. Quarterback Dak Prescott did not put up large numbers last year but lacked the supporting cast to do so. Namely, running back Ezekiel Elliott is the one exception. But Elliott is just entering the camp from holdout and is questionable. Tight end Jason Witten’s return from retirement sparks hopes of improved production. Of great concern to head coach Jason Garrett is very warm. It’s Super Bowl or bust.

Players to Watch: QB Dak Prescott (67.7% COMP, 3885 YDS, 22 TD, 8 INT, 96.9 RTG), WR Amari Cooper (75 REC, 1005 YDS, 13.4 YPC, 7 TD), WR Michael Gallup (33 REC, 507 YEDS, 15.4 YPC, 2 TD, WR Randall Cobb (38 REC, 383 YDS, 10.1 YPC, 2 TD), TE Jason Witten (CAREER 1152 REC, 12448 YDS, 10.8 YPC, 68 TD), DE Demarcus Lawrence (64 TACKLES, 10.5 SACKS), PK Brett Maher (29-36 FG, 32-33 XP)
