NFL Betting Sites Prepare for AFC East Rivalry
Posted by: Anthony Yaylor
Before the 2017 online NFL betting season kicked off, most NFL betting sites felt pretty confident about their AFC East prediction: the New England Patriots by a mile. But right now, the reigning Super Bowl champions are in a 3-way tie along with the Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills – all of whom are sitting at 1-1 (except the Dolphins who have only played 1 game this season). It’s too early to actually predict how will the division will turn out, but if the current trend continues it could shape up to be one of the best divisional races in the league.
The Miami Dolphins will have an opportunity to up their stake in the division this weekend when they face their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets. The Jets are the only team in the East that hasn’t won a game yet this season, and naturally they’re last in the division with their 0-2 record. Let’s take a gander at what NFL betting sites are predicting will go down this weekend.
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets – Sunday, September 24th
When: 1:00 pm ET
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford
Stream: CBS Sports, NFL Game Pass
NFL Betting Sites Lines and Odds:
Miami Dolphins -6 (-110) 41 ½ (-115)
New York Jets +6 (-110) 41 ½ (-105)
As previously mentioned, the Dolphins have only played one game this season and are sitting on a 1-0 record. The Dolphins were scheduled to face the Bucs opening week but Hurricane Irma forced a rescheduling. So instead of debuting against Tampa Bay, the Dolphins had the honor of opening up their season against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers posed a respectable threat, with a capable defense and a powerful offense led by Philip Rivers. In the end, the challenge allowed the Dolphins to see how their defense measured up. Defensively they could’ve had a better day, with the Chargers gaining 367 yards on the day and Rivers finishing with a 110.6 passer rating. However, despite giving up ample yardage, the Dolphins’ defense held up when they needed it to and was able to allow Miami to win the match 19-17.
This is all we’ve seen from the Dolphins so no one can be sure how they will fare against the Jets. However, we’ve gotten a good look at the Jets and it would be wisest to side with Miami this online NFL betting weekend.
New York Jets
The Jets are 0-2 and it is anything but surprising. With little talent at the quarterback position, the Jets have the 23rd worst scoring offense. Their defense is actually worst however, since they are allowing 33 points per outing – more than any other team in the NFL.
The Jets faced the Buffalo Bills in the opening game of the season and suffered a 21-12 loss to their rivals. The following week, New York squared off against Oakland and once again tasted defeat, this time 45-20. The Dolphins aren’t as explosive as the Raiders, but football betting sportsbook players should still expect a decisive finish this weekend.
