New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins

The AFC East currently belongs to the New England Patriots. Although the Dolphins took an early stake in the division, they have since faltered and fallen from NFL football betting grace. Several games behind the Patriots, Miami will need a miracle to get back on top of the horse. Fortunately, they’re facing a pretty weak opponent in this Sunday’s New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins matchup. So will they be able to bounce back against Sam Darnold & Co.? Let’s take a look at the NFL legal betting odds to find out.

New York Jets

The Jets fly into this Week 9 contest sporting a 3-5 record that ranks them 3rd overall in the division. The Jets had a great debut to the 2018 season but haven’t been able to play at a consistently high level. However, they’ve had flashes of brilliance along the way. Considering how inconsistent Miami has been this season, it will only take one flash of brilliance to upset them on the road this Sunday. Granted, New York couldn’t get the job done against the Fins earlier this season, conceding a 20-12 loss to the Dolphins in Week 2. Now they look to avenge that loss, and break their current 2-game losing streak, by picking up an upset win over a divisional rival. Ultimately it will be up to Sam Darnold to win this game for New York. So far the rook has been having an alright season, and with some adjustments he should be able to put up better numbers. He certainly has the arm to deliver.

Players to Watch: Sam Darnold (1,705 passing yards, 11 TD, 10 INT), Isaiah Crowell (484 rushing yards, 5 TD, 0 F), and Robby Anderson (314 receiving yards, 3 TD, 17 REC).

Miami Dolphins

The Fins swim into this divisional rivalry sporting a 4-4 record that pegs them as the 2nd best team in the division. However, with a 1-4 record in their last 5, it’s looking like Miami needs to prove their worth this Sunday. If they fail, they’ll continue to plummet in the divisional rankings. Interestingly enough, these two are 5-5 against one another in their last 10. Clearly, this is one tough contest to predict. But looking over the numbers, it’s hard not to peg Miami at a disadvantage. Right now the Dolphins are scoring 21.8 per game, fewer points than the 24.0 that New York delivers. On defense the stats also favor New York since they’re giving up 25.0 per game while Miami is giving up 27.4. If those trends play out on Sunday, Miami will certainly end up losing this home matchup.

Players to Watch: Ryan Tannehill (972 passing yards, 8 TD, 5 INT), Frank Gore (385 rushing yards, 0 TD, 0 F), and Albert Wilson (391 receiving yards, 4 TD, 26 REC).
