New York Jets
The Jets are having a forgettable season. Despite this, the players still attempt to make the best out of each play, which is a commendable attitude. QB Sam Darnold did 21/30 via 218 air yards and was rewarded with 2 touchdowns. He also earned 3 picks. Le’Veon Bell wasn’t able to replicate that feat, but he still did 9 carries for a measly 23 yards. Ryan Griffin also had low output, catching the ball only 4 times for 66 yards.
The Jets did the rush attack for 15 out of 53 plays. This under-reliance on the rushing mechanic is already an indicator of their weakness as a team. They gained only 213 yards as opposed to their opponents’ 389 yards. Interestingly, the Jets attempted to clamp down on defense, allowing a modest 65% throw completion rate for their opponents.
The Jets will have to look for ways to improve their game really quick. It would be humiliating to suffer more losses at the hands of non-league leaders. They better look to their QB to perform well. And they should also place more trust in rushing.

The Dolphins are really, really hungry for a win. They absorbed a 27-14 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ryan Fitzpatrick was undeterred in his 21/34 performance with 190 yards passed. He was the lone playmaker who still managed to score 2 thrown touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Mark Walton took care of the ground game, carrying the ball 11 times for 35 yards. DeVante Parker only did 6 catches that earned the team 59 yards.
The Dolphins ran for 19 out of 57 plays. The low running rate probably worsened their situation. Running more attempts could have allowed them more shots at touchdowns, and the Miami Dolphins should keep this in mind. The Dolphins are the punching bags of teams all over the NFL.
Additional tactics and probably additional training as well would do the Dolphins a lot of good. They’re still bound to learn more lessons during this forgettable season. In the meantime, it’s a good opportunity for their players to showcase fighting spirit even against superior odds.
