New York Jets

The New York Jets turned in yet another losing season last year, their 6th in their last 7 years. It wasn’t surprising to see New York stumble throughout the season. After all, the Jets struggled tremendously on both sides of the ball. Defensively New York ranked 22nd in points allowed, 25th in total defense and 24th against the run. Offensively the Jets struggled just as much as they finished 24th in scoring, 28th in total offense and 24th through the air. Clearly the organization needs to rebuild their roster extensively. To help do so, the Jets picked up Sam Darnold with the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. However, it seems unlikely that New York’s draft picks will be enough to deliver a serious turnaround.

Players to Watch: Josh McCown (2,926 passing yards, 18 TD, 9 INT), Bilal Powell (772 rushing yards, 5 TD, 0 F), and Robby Anderson (941 receiving yards, 7 TD, 63 REC).

Detroit Lions

The Lions turned in a 9-7 record last season to finish 2nd in the NFC North. Although they were close to snatching up a Wild Card seed, Detroit lost too many late-season games to clinch that berth. All in all Detroit really missed a great opportunity last year. Since Aaron Rodgers went down with injury early in the year, the door was wide open for Matt Stafford to come in and lead Detroit to the playoffs. Instead, the Lions finished the year 2nd in the division. Now heading into 2018, Detroit will have to beat out one ticked off Aaron Rodgers. Good luck.

Players to Watch: Matthew Stafford (4,446 passing yards, 29 TD, 10 INT), Ameer Abdullah (552 rushing yards, 4 TD, 1 F), and Marvin Jones Jr. (1,101 receiving yards, 9 TD, 61 REC).
