New York Giants
The Giants hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in their 2018 debut. It’s always interesting when these two franchises meet considering how dirty New York did Tom Coughlin and how well Coughlin is faring as an executive for the Jags. And in case New York needed further evidence that they were in the wrong when they dismissed Coughlin, the Giants ended up losing their opener 20-15. It wasn’t all bad luck however as Saquon Barkley looked great in his professional debut racking up a total of 106 rushing yards and a single touchdown. In the passing game Manning faired alright as did OBJ as Beckham finished the day with 111 receiving yards – nearly half of the total passing yards amassed on the day for New York. Luckily for New York, they’ll be going up against a defense that isn’t as dominant as Jacksonville’s this Sunday. We’ll have to see how they fare.
Players to Watch: Eli Manning (224 passing yards, 0 TD, 1 INT), Saquon Barkley (106 rushing yards, 1 TD, 0 F), and Odell Beckham Jr. (111 rushing yards, 0 TD, 11 REC).
All in all Dallas had a pitiful showing in their debut. Prescott looked more inexperienced and unprepared than he did in his rookie season. Elliott failed to impress on the day despite the massive hype still surrounding him. And even though the defense played fairly well, it’s not sure whether it was due to their own prowess or due to Carolina’s clumsiness. In the end, the Cowboys suffered a 16-8 loss to Cam Newton and company. Now they’re in a bit of a must-win situation as an 0-2 start would be disastrous in a division that contains the reigning Super Bowl champions. Luckily Dallas is 7-3 in their last 20 matchup against New York. And they’ll also be online NFL betting favorites playing at home.
Players to Watch: Dak Prescott (138 passing yards, 0 TD, 0 INT), Ezekiel Elliott (69 rushing yards, 1 TD, 0 F), and Cole Beasley (73 receiving yards, 0 TD, 7 REC).
