New York Giants
The Giants charge into this weekend’s action sporting a 1-3 record that pegs them as the worst team in the NFC East. Right now the division is led by the 2-1 Washington Redskins, followed by the Cowboys and Eagles both of whom are 2-2 this season. Clearly the division is very much up for grabs. But from what we’ve seen out of New York so far this season, there’s no reason to believe the Giants have a shot at winning the East. Right now the Giants are scoring 18.2 points per game, giving them the 29th worst scoring offense in the league. Defensively things are a little bit better, since they’re only allotting 23.8 to their opponents – the 16th best average in the NFL. And while that defensive average might be respectable, it’s certainly not enough to bail out that stuttering offense. The biggest problem on offense for the Giants has to be their offensive line. Anyone who has watched them play this season has seen Eli Manning hanging on for dear life. The look the man has on his face after getting up from sack after sack is quite disheartening. Ultimately we can expect the Giants to fall significantly short against Carolina this Sunday.
Players to Watch: Eli Manning (1,055 passing yards, 4 TD, 1 INT), Saquon Barkley (260 rushing yards, 3 TD, 0 F), and Odell Beckham Jr. (331 receiving yards, 0 TD, 31 REC).
The Panthers are 2-1 so far this season and are coming off a premature Bye Week. They kicked the season off with a dominant 16-8 win over the Dallas Cowboys at home. Afterwards, Carolina lost their first game of the season against the Falcons on the road 31-24. And in Week 3, the Panthers shocked the online NFL betting community by delivering a 31-21 upset of the Cincinnati Bengals. Now the Panthers look to get right back into the action by facing a rather pitiful New York squad. As long as the Panthers are able to somewhat deter Saquon Barkley and keep Beckham from getting behind them in the secondary, there’s no reason to expect anything but a win from the Panthers this Sunday. The odds out on them make this much perfectly clear.
Players to Watch: Cam Newton (646 passing yards, 5 TD, 1 INT), Christian McCaffrey (271 rushing yards, 0 TD, 1 F), and Devin Funchess (185 receiving yards, 1 TD, 14 REC).
