New England Patriots

The Patriots took the short route to the Super Bowl, only facing two opponents in the lead up to the NFL’s title match. The first of which was the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that featured an explosive offense and a capable defense. Nevertheless, despite all the merits LA brought to the table, New England was still able to deliver a 41-28 postseason blowout. Impressive as New England’s performance was, some Super Bowl betting fans wanted to see how they would match up against the Chiefs. The Chiefs may not have had a defense as tough the Chargers, but they made up for it with an arguably even more explosive offense. Notwithstanding the dynamism Kansas City developed, the Patriots were still able to win 37-31 in overtime this past Sunday. However, it should be mentioned that there was a plethora of calls that went in New England’s favor. One recalls a particularly enraging roughing the passer call, which was flat out fabrication on behalf of the refs.

Players to Watch: Tom Brady (691 passing yards, 2 TD, 2 INT), Sony Michel (242 rushing yards, 5 TD, 0 F), and Julian Edelman (247 receiving yards, 0 TD, 16 REC).

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are the team bettors felt was without a doubt the best from within the NFC. Seeing as how they’ll be representing the conference in this year’s Super Bowl, it’s safe to say that those bettors were right. However, like the Pats, the Rams were helped out tremendously in their 26-23 win over the Saints. One only needs to scroll through Twitter for a few minutes to see how livid the reaction from NFL fans, both LA and non-LA fans, was. At the end of the day it’s these types of calls that lead fans to believe that the league plays an active role in determining their Super Bowl matchups. If that conspiracy theory is true, it seems that the NFL was hell-bent on getting the Rams to face the Pats in the Super Bowl. Interestingly enough these two have quite a bit of Super Bowl history. These two franchises actually met in the 2002 Super Bowl that saw Tom Brady win his first Super Bowl. Now the Rams look to keep Brady from touching the Vince Lombardi Trophy at their expense once again.

Players to Watch: Jared Goff (483 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), CJ Anderson (167 rushing yards, 2 TD, 0 F), and Brandin Cooks (172 receiving yards, 0 TD, 11 REC).
