Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Jets Betting Odds, Preview & Picks
Posted by: Mike Davis
One of the biggest NFL football betting questions of the season so far is how good are the Minnesota Vikings? Heading into the season, many sportsbook bettors had the Vikings pegged as the favorites to win the Super Bowl. However, they’ve certainly failed to live up to that expectation. Nevertheless, the Vikes enter this weekend’s Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Jets matchup riding a 2-game winning streak. Will this momentum be enough to propel Minnesota to a win over the Jets? Or will Kirk Cousins and the Vikings suffer another massive blunder this weekend? Let’s mulch over the NFL sportsbook betting lines to get a better idea.
Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Jets – Saturday, October 20th
When: 1:00 pm ET
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Stream: Fox Sports Go, NFL Game Pass
College Football Betting Odds:
Minnesota Vikings -3 (-125) 46½ (-110) -180
New York Jets +3 (+105) 46½ (-110) +155
The Vikings charge into this weekend’s matchup sporting a 3-2-1 record that places them near the top of the NFC North. Right now the 3-2 Bears lead the division followed by the 3-2-1 Packers and Vikings. Clearly, the NFC North is very much up for grabs at the present moment. So will Minnesota be able to make a push for the lead in the NFC North by taking care of the Jets on the road in Week 7? The odds seem to think so. However, they’re surprisingly not pegging Minnesota as that big of a favorite. This is because both the Vikings and the Jets have been incredibly inconsistent this season. In Week 2 Minnesota failed to pick up a win against the Packers in a game which they mostly dominated. Following that letdown, Minnesota got blown out 27-6 in the biggest shocker of this year’s season. Afterwards, the Vikings gave up a whopping 38-points to the Rams. Considering that the defense is supposed to be the strong suit of this team, that was a pitiful outing. Nevertheless, the Jets haven’t been that consistent either. Barring some miraculous outing from them, Minnesota should win this contest handily.
Players to Watch: Kirk Cousins (1,921 passing yards, 12 TD, 3 INT), Latavius Murray (261 rushing yards, 1 TD, 0 F), and Adam Thielen (712 receiving yards, 4 TD, 58 REC).
New York Jets
The Jets fly into this weekend’s action sporting a 3-3 record that pegs them as the 3rd best team in the AFC East. Right now the division is heralded by the 4-2 Patriots, who have been having their ups and downs. All in all New England hasn’t created enough separation to bury the Jets. Notwithstanding that fact, New York will still have a tough time chasing down the Patriots. However, looking over the numbers, it’s clear New York can at least win this weekend’s contest. Right now the Jets are averaging 27.5 per game, which is surprisingly higher than the 23.3 that Minnesota delivers. Defensively the Jets once again take the advantage. Right now they’re giving up 23.2 points per matchup which is slightly better than the Vikings’ 24.7 average. We’ll have to see how Darnold is able to perform against Minnesota’s defensive unit.
Players to Watch: Sam Darnold (1,346 passing yards, 9 TD, 7 INT), Isaiah Crowell (430 rushing yards, 5 TD, 0 F), and Quincy Enuwa (287 receiving yards, 1 TD, 22 REC).
