Online NFL Betting Odds:

New York Jets +5 (-105)       38 (-105)

Detroit Lions -5 (-115)           38 (-115)

New York Jets

The New York Jets are coming off a 5-11 season that saw the franchise finish dead last in the AFC East. It was Todd Bowles 2nd year at the helm but it was a dip from his first that saw the Jets finish 10-6. New York fans are looking for a turnaround this upcoming season or they might just put Bowles on the hot seat.

Of course, since they share a division with the Patriots, not too many online NFL betting fans are expecting New York to win the East. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t contend for a Wild Card or at least give New England a hard time this season.

In their first game of the preseason, New York faced off against the Tennessee Titans at home. The game was rather uneventful on both sides, but the Jets were able to edge out a win 7-3. Josh McCown looked well in the short time he played, which is a positive considering how poor the play at quarterback was last year for the Jets.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions came close to winning the NFC North last season. Late season struggles impeded Detroit from doing so, but the Lions were still able to snag a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Lions’ fans, that Wild Card spot would be all they got since the Seahawks eliminated Detroit immediately.

This season, Detroit will be looking to contend against the online NFL betting favorites in the North, the Green Bay Packers. It won’t be easy, and the sportsbook odds will rule against them, but it’s definitely not out of the question. Especially when considering how well Detroit looked against the Colts.

Sure it’s the preseason, but the Lions 24-10 triumph over Indianapolis has gotten their fans hyped up about this season’s chances. Detroit was able to gain 336 yards of total offense while holding the Colts to just 230.
