The Jaguars were one of 2017’s biggest surprises. Coming off a 3-13 season, the Jags – under new head coach Doug Marrone, were able to deliver a brilliant 10-6 record to win the AFC South. Much of the Jaguars’ turnaround can be attributed to Coughlin who joined the organization following New York’s disgraceful decision to show him the door. But now Coughlin has found a new beloved home and there’s no question Jacksonville loves him. After all, his guidance led them all the way to an AFC Championship appearance last season – something no one could’ve foreseen. Heading into 2018, the Jags have the pieces to be a dominant force in the AFC South. It wouldn’t be shocking to see them beat up on the Giants in Week 1.
Players to Watch: Blake Bortles (3,687 passing yards, 21 TD, 13 INT), Leonard Fournette (1,040 rushing yards, 9 TD, 2 F), and Keelan Cole (748 receiving yards, 3 TD, 42 REC).
New York Giants
The Giants were horrendous last season and most of their problems stemmed from poor football decisions. In addition to the aforementioned decision to let Coughlin walk, the Giants also struggled due to Ben McAdoo’s ego. McAdoo doesn’t know much when it comes to football, evident by his record as a head coach, and in the end did more harm to New York than good. Ultimately, the Giants can look forward to rebuilding under new head coach Pat Shurmur.
Players to Watch: Eli Manning (3,468 passing yards, 19 TD, 13 INT), Orleans Darkwa (751 rushing yards, 5 TD,), and Sterling Shepard (731 receiving yards, 2 TD, 59 REC).
