Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are reeling from one of their worst games in the season. They were made a punching bag by the Houston Texans, who buried them with a 26-3 scoreboard. QB Gardener Minshew was frustrated, doing 27/47 with 308 passing yards without a TD. He emerged from the game with 2 interceptions. Leonard Fournette rushed only 11 carries at 40 yards. Keelan Cole had a similarly lackluster stat board, with 5 receptions contributing a measly 80 yards.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were in a lot of trouble. They only ran 15 out of 66 plays. This low rushing attempt ratio is to blame for their almost-nonexistent scoring capability. They were also outclassed in terms of yardage gain. The opponent gained 410 yards versus the Jaguars’ 357.

The Jaguars also seemed to have forgotten how to play good defense. They allowed a worrisome 79% completion rate on opponent throws. They were also powerless to stop 33 rush attempts. With too many holes to plug, the Jaguars should shape up if they hope to win their upcoming match.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts were surprisingly beaten by the Miami Dolphins. The latter used to be the league’s bottom-most cellar-dweller but has since improved their record with successive wins. The Colts bowed out with a 16-12 scorecard. QB Brian Hoyer contributed 18/39 with 204 passing yards. Marlon Mack was the muster rusher, going for 19 carries at 74 yards. Eric Ebron was the master receiver, catching the ball 5 times for 56 yards gained.

The Colts are sliding in terms of their win-loss ratio. While they started the season with a competitive slate, they are now being rolled over by lower-ranked teams. Part of their weakness lies in their defensive strategy. From the previous matchup, they allowed a 64% completion rate and 26 rush attempts. Each attempt that passes through the defense can easily be converted into points.

Looking forward, the Colts might have enough steam to make it through their next matchup. They’re definitely not in a position to underestimate their next opponent, so they should play with full power and confidence.
