NFL sports betting sites were uncertain how the new-look Washington Redskins would fare this season. After failing to come to terms with quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Redskins elected to trade for Alex Smith. Smith was coming off a terrific season with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, without Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill by his side, legal betting players were uncertain of how Smith would fare. But in their 2018 opener, Smith lead the Redskins to a 24-6 triumphant victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Now, Smith looks to do the same in this weekend’s Indianapolis Colts vs. Washington Redskins matchup. What do NFL sportsbooks have to say about his chances?

Indianapolis Colts
After welcoming Frank Reich as the new head coach, the Colts had high hopes for a turnaround in 2018. But after suffering a 34-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, it’s clear there’s still work to be done. All in all the Colts had a very poor outing for their 2018 opener. Although the offense fared alright, racking up 394 total yards on the day, the defense wasn’t able to stop anyone. Cincinnati had their way on the ground, racking up 101 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. And even though the Redskins running game wasn’t sensational in their debut, this could certainly spell trouble for Indy this weekend.
Players to Watch: Andrew Luck (319 passing yards, 2 TD, 1 INT), Jordan Wilkins (40 rushing yards, 0 TD, 0 F), and Jack Doyle (60 receiving yards, 0 TD, 7 REC).
Washington Redskins
As aforementioned, the Redskins kicked the season off with a dominant routing of an NFC opponent. Ultimately Washington needed a fast start to the season if they were to stand a chance of competing with the reigning Super Bowl champions for an NFC East title. In their opener Washington was able to rack up 437 total yards of offense while holding their opponent to just 221. But considering they were facing the Cardinals, it’s not clear whether Washington’s defensive success was thanks to their own prowess or thanks to the Cardinals shortcomings. We’ll get our answer to this question this weekend as facing Andrew Luck is no joke. The Colts haven’t had much success in years past but they definitely have enough pieces in place to be dangerous in any given matchup.
Players to Watch: Alex Smith (255 passing yards, 2 TD, 0 INT), Adrian Peterson (96 rushing yards, 1 TD, 1 F), and Chris Thompson (63 receiving yards, 0 TD, 2 REC).
