Ice, Ice Matty: Atlanta Falcons vs. TB Buccaneers

Posted by: Mike Davis

The Atlanta Falcons fresh off a win will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, November 3rd at Raymond James Stadium. Here are the online NFL betting odds for the game:

Falcons -3 (-110) 51½ (-110)
Buccaneers +3 (-110) 51½ (-110)

The Falcons (5-3) defeated the Green Bay Packers 33-32 on Sunday. Matt Ryan threw 28 of 35 for 288 yards with three TD passes, including an 11-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mohamed Sanu with 31 seconds left. Sanu had 84 yards on nine receptions. Kicker Matt Bryant made the field goal that gave Atlanta the victory, and became the Falcons’ all-time leading scorer. Running back Terron Ward ran for 46 yards on six carries while Devonta Freeman had 35 yards and a touchdown on 11 attempts. Taylor Gabriel had 68 yards and a touchdown in three catches. Austin Hooper had 41 yards in five receptions.

The Bucs (3-4) lost in 24-30 in overtime to the Oakland Raiders. Jameis Winston finished 16 of 32 for 180 yards and two touchdowns. The Bucs took a 24-17 lead on a 1-yard run by Jacquizz Rodgers and two-point conversion. Rodgers ran for 69 yards and two scores on 19 attempts while Antone Smith had 16 yards on four carries. Adam Humphries had 58 yards in three catches while Mike Evans had 50 yards on four catches. Russell Shepard had 24 yards and a touchdown on two catches.

The Falcons are averaging 32.8 points and 425.2 total yards (313.8 passing and 111.5 rushing) per game, and yielding 28.9 points and 379.2 total yards (285.4 passing and 93.9 rushing) per game. The Bucs are averaging 21.7 points and 351.7 total yards (238.3 passing and 113.4 rushing) per game, and allowing 27.0 points and 390.0 total yards (274.7 passing and 115.3 rushing) per game.

The Bucs are 0-3 at home 3-1 on the road this season. The Falcons are 5-3, having lost to the Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers, but their first loss came precisely to Tampa Bay. If the Falcons can win in Tampa on Thursday night (where they are currently a 3-point favorite), then they’ll put more pressure on the Bucs, Panthers and Saints to begin the second half of the 2016 season.

Online NFL betting fans might think that a short week does not give the Bucs enough time to prepare for the Falcons, but Jameis Winston couldn’t disagree more. “We’ve got a quick turnaround. That’s lucky for us,” the Tampa Bay QB said. The Buccaneers swept Atlanta last season, and as mentioned above, they beat them this year in their season opener. The Falcons have gone on to win five of their past seven games and lead the NFC South division. The Bucs, however, sure could use some time to fix the shortcomings that were on display against the Raiders. For example, not moving the ball effectively, not sustaining drives and not generating a pass rush. Unless they do that, the online NFL betting odds at a football betting site will not favor them.
