Eagles vs. Falcons 2019 NFL Week 2 Lines & Game Preview
Posted by: Mike Davis
On the whole, it would be hard to find a more disheartening performance than the Falcons on opening day. Atlanta was run off the field at Minnesota in a loss that set the worst possible tone. To begin with, many fans and gamblers have never forgiven Atlanta’s epic Super Bowl collapse to the Patriots. Things have never been the same since for this franchise. By contrast, the Eagles did win but failed to cover betting on NFL games against Washington in their opener. Quarterback Carson Wentz looked liberated to not be looking over his shoulder to departed Nick Foles.
Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Atlanta Falcons
The first-week action saw the Eagles take out the Redskins 32-27 as 10.5-point home chalks. Wentz was virtually flawless with 313 yards and three touchdowns in the win. DeSean Jackson was impressive with 154 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Overall the Eagles rallied from a 21-20 third-quarter deficit to take control of the final quarter and a half. Of great concern is a pass defense that was lit up by Case Keenum for 380 yards and three touchdowns.
Players to Watch: QB Carson Wentz (72% COMP, 313 YDS, 8.0 AVG, 3 TD, 0 INT, 121 RTG), RB Darren Sproles (9 RSH, 47 YDS, 5.2 YPC, 0 TD, 3 REC, 16 YDS, 5.2 YPC, 0 TD), RB Jordan Howard (6 RSH, 44 YDS, 7.3 YPC, 0 TD, 2 REC, 11 YDS, 5.5 YPC, 0 TD), RB Miles Sanders (11 RSH, 25 YDS, 2.3 YPC, 0 TD, 2 REC, 2 YDS, 2.0 YPC), WR DeSean Jackson (8 REC, 154 YDS, 19.3 AVG, 2 TD), TE Zach Ertz (5 REC, 54 YDS, 10.8 YPC, 0 TD), WR Alshon Jeffery (5 REC, 49 YDS, 9.8 YPC, 1 TD)
Last week the Falcons were run out of US Bank Stadium in a 28-12 loss in which they fell behind 28-0. In a season that is likely a win or else for Dan Quinn, Atlanta flopped from the start. Quinn has taken over the defense himself and did not impress at Minnesota. Owing to the bad start was a team that looked unprepared. It could be an ominous sign.
Players to Watch: QB Matt Ryan (72% COMP, 304 YDS, 6.6 AVG, 2 TD, 2 INT, 85.8 RTG), RB Ito Smith (6 ATT, 31 YDS, 5.2 YPC, 0 TD), RB Devonta Freeman (8 ATT, 18 YDS, 2.4 YPC, 0 TD, 3 REC, 12 YDS, 4.0 YPC, 0 TD), TE Austin Hooper (9 REC, 77 YDS, 8,6 YPC, 0 TD), WR Calvin Ridley (4 REC, 64 YDS, 16.0 YPC, 1 TD), WR Mohamed Sanu (5 REC, 57 YDS, 11.4 AVG, 0 TD), WR Justin Hardy (4 REC 41 YDS, 10.3 YPC, 0 TD), WR Julio Jones (6 REC, 31 YDS, 5.2 YPC, 1 TD)
