Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders – Monday, September 9th
Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders Betting Odds
Denver BroncosThe Broncos turned in a 6-10 record last season to finish 3rd overall in the AFC West. Considering the team was coming off a 5-11 season, 2018 wasn’t much of an improvement for Denver. All in all, the Broncos have struggled due to their lack of a franchise quarterback. Despite having a stellar defense, the Broncos consistently find themselves on the losing end of football games. Moving forward, the Broncos are hopeful that offseason acquisition Joe Flacco will be enough to bring some consistency to this offense. Flacco may be a Super Bowl winning quarterback but his play has dwindled severely. In Denver he’ll have a strong defense behind him and a promising running game to back him up. That alone should be enough for Flacco to mount a playoff push. Players to Watch: Case Keenum (3,890 passing yards, 18 TD, 15 INT), Philip Lindsay (1,037 rushing yards, 9 TD, 0 F), and Emmanuel Sanders (868 receiving yards, 4 TD, 71 REC). Oakland RaidersThe Raiders are coming off a rather disappointing 4-12 season that saw them finish dead last in the AFC West. Although they were coming off a 6-10 season, the Raiders had high expectations for the year. After all, Jon Gruden was confident Derek Carr could lead this team to a winning season. In the end, it’s clear that the Raiders don’t have enough pieces in place to consistently find success. This brings us back to the perilous decision to let Khalil Mack depart from Oakland. Without a playmaker on defense, Oakland was unable to win enough games to be competitive let alone deliver a winning season. Heading into next year’s action, the Raiders will likely be faced with the same problems. Players to Watch: Derek Carr (4,049 passing yards, 19 TD, 10 INT), Doug Martin (723 rushing yards, 4 TD, 3 F), and Jared Cook (896 receiving yards, 6 TD, 68 REC).
