NFL Football Betting Odds:
One year removed from their rookie-breakout sensation that saw Dallas make it all the way to the playoffs just to lose their 1st postseason matchup, and the Cowboys once again missed out on the NFL postseason. This year America’s Team posted a 9-7 record that was good enough to get the No. 2 seed in the NFC East but was not good enough to lock up a Wild Card berth. A lot of the blame could be placed on Ezekiel Elliott, who was one of the Cowboys’ biggest contributors the year before. However, Elliott got himself involved in some off the field issues and consequently wound up suspended by the league. The suspension only lasted a couple of games but it was enough to take Dallas’ momentum out from under them. Afterwards, the franchise was unable to truly bounce back. They look to that this upcoming season.
Players to Watch: Dak Prescott (3,324 passing yards, 22 TD, 13 INT), Ezekiel Elliott (983 rushing yards, 7 TD, 1 F), and Terrance Williams (568 receiving yards, 0 TD, 53 REC).
After winning the division in 2016, Houston had high hopes for the 2017 season. Unfortunately, most of those hopes didn’t pan out as the franchise finished the season with a 4-12 record. Most of the problems can be pinned on an injury to starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. Before both Watson and JJ Watt went down with injuries, the Texans looked dominant on both sides of the ball. But after those two studs went down, Houston looked like an entirely different team. Moving forward, Houston has the pieces in place to claim the AFC South for themselves. In fact, they’re biggest worry for this upcoming season should be keeping everyone healthy. If they can manage that, they should be a shoo-in for this year’s postseason.
Players to Watch: Deshaun Watson (1,699 passing yards, 19 TD, 8 INT), Lamar Miller (888 rushing yards, 3 TD, 0 F), and DeAndre Hopkins (1,378 receiving yards, 13 TD, 96 REC).
