Cleveland Browns vs. Oakland Raiders NFL Football Betting Picks

Before the 2018 NFL football betting season started, people were riding the Jimmy G hype train pretty hard. Garoppolo had lead the 49ers to a 5-0 finish to last year’s season and was expected to pick up right where he left off. Three weeks in to the season and Garoppolo has delivered 5 TD, 3 INT and a 90.0 passer rating but is now out for the year thanks to an injury. After Week 1’s action was in the books, people starting jumping on the Sam Darnold hype train. Darnold had just lead the Jets to a blowout win over the Lions and everyone was eyeing up the rook. Two weeks later, Darnold has 3 TD, 5 INT, and a 72.0 passer rating to his name. Clearly, some sportsbook players are a bit eager to jump on a hype train. So, considering that a train is building around another rookie, Baker Mayfield, should we hesitate to jump aboard? Let’s check the odds for this weekend’s Cleveland Browns vs. Oakland Raiders match to find out.

NFL Sports Betting Odds:
The Browns enter this weekend’s action sporting a 1-1-1 record that ranks them 3rd in the AFC North. The division is led by the Bengals and Ravens, who are both 2-1 this year. With that in mind, it’s clear Cleveland can still make a push for the lead in the division. And since Mayfield brought the 1st win to Cleveland in in nearly two seasons, he’s being hailed as the man who can lead the Browns to a divisional title. All in all Cleveland has enough pieces around the rookie for him to find success this year, and especially this weekend against the struggling Raiders. The Browns have a decent defense, seeing as they’re only giving up 19.7 per game. The running game is pretty dominant on top of that; they’re putting up 134.3 rushing yards per game. With that in mind, we can anticipate Mayfield having a pretty good outing – at least this upcoming Sunday.
Players to Watch: Baker Mayfield (201 passing yards, 0 TD, 0 INT), Carlos Hyde (203 rushing yards, 4 TD, 0 F), and Jarvis Landry (278 receiving yards, 0 TD, 20 REC).
The Raiders slump into this weekend’s action flashing a 0-3 record. Considering that the Bills upset the Vikings this past Sunday, Oakland might just be the sorriest team in the NFL. The reason being, the Raiders decided that Jon Gruden – who hadn’t coached an NFL game in God knows how long, was a good financial decision. In order to get Gruden out of retirement, Oakland had to offer the then-retired coach $10 million per year. And since they dished out that much money to Gruden, Oakland had no choice but to trade Khalil Mack. Mack was focused on getting his own money, which he rightly deserves considering he might just be the best defensive player in the NFL. Naturally the optics of trading one of the best defensive players in the league for a retired coach looked terrible. But even worse has been the fallout of that decision. Ultimately Gruden needs a vast turnaround in the coming weeks in order to retain his job. Considering he’s facing the Browns this weekend, who feel like they have located their newfound savior, it’s looking like a 0-4 start is in the future for Oakland.
Players to Watch: Derek Carr (936 passing yards, 2 TD, 5 INT), Marshawn Lynch (170 rushing yards, 3 TD, 0 F), and Jared Cook (260 receiving yards, 0 TD, 18 REC).
