The Bears really missed out on what could have been a successful season in 2017. Since Aaron Rodgers went down with a severe injury early on in the season, the Bears could have theoretically filled the void at the top of the division. Instead, we saw the Minnesota Vikings rise to prominence. At the same time, we saw Chicago finish the year with a disappointing 5-11 record. Subsequently, the Bears were pegged as the worst team in the NFC North. Moving forward, 2018 should be a turnaround season for Chicago. And while they’ve said that about the Bears for the last 5 years running now, Chicago now has enough pieces in place to be somewhat of a threat. Unfortunately for the Bears, they’ll have to usurp a pissed off Aaron Rodgers and a very dominant Minnesota Vikings to claim the NFC North. Good luck.
Players to Watch: Mitchell Trubisky (2,193 passing yards, 7 TD, 7 INT), Jordan Howard (1,122 rushing yards, 9 TD, 1 F), and Kendall Wright (614 receiving yards, 1 TD, 59 REC).
The Broncos had a decent start to the 2017 season but quickly found themselves in a hole. Ultimately, Denver was never able to recover as they finished the season with a meager 5-11 record. And since they finished dead last in the division, the Broncos can only go up from here. Most of Denver’s problems lied on offense, where the void left by retiring Peyton Manning has yet to be filled. This year the Broncos have quite the lineup to choose from at quarterback, including Chad Kelly, Paxton Lynch and Case Keenum. Keenum will likely be the starter come opening day. Last season, Keenum found plenty of success with the Vikings’ stout defense backing him up. With the Broncos’ defense behind him, Keenum should be able to find success in 2018.
Players to Watch: Case Keenum (3,457 passing yards, 22 TD, 7 INT), Devontae Booker (299 rushing yards, 1 TD, 1 F), and Demaryius Thomas (949 receiving yards, 5 TD, 83 REC).
