Carolina Panthers

The Panthers clawed at the Atlanta Falcons but were pecked back with a 29-3 loss. QB Kyle Allen was listless, going for 31/50 with 325 air yards. He was unable to connect a thrown TD, and instead threw 4 interceptions. Christian McCaffrey rushed 14 times, earning the team 70 yards. The receiving leader did 11 receptions for a total of 121 yards.

The Carolina Panthers only ran 15 out of 70 plays. They had trouble adjusting to the opponent’s rush-centric defense. The tale of the yards was not skewed in their favor. The Panthers gained 295 yards as opposed to the opponent’s 349 yards. The Panthers’ defense was almost nonexistent, allowing the opponent to connect throws 69% of the time. But the one that really hurt was the 26 rush attempts.

The Panthers are decent across all stats, but they couldn’t find answers to the opponent’s exemplary offense and defense in their last matchup. They better have backup tactics available in case they are shut down in their preferred offensive tactic.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints rose up against the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. It was an easy game for the Saints, with the endgame score pegged at 34-17. QB Drew Bees was going for 28/35 with 228 air yards. He tossed in 3 big TDs. Alvin Kamara rushed 13 times. He was able to chuck in 75 yards but was unable to score any rushing TDs. Michael Thomas made his mark as the receiving leader. He caught the ball 8 times, contributing 114 yards.

The Saints had an easy matchup. Weirdly enough, it was not evident in the tale of the yards. The Saints earned 328 yards as opposed to their opponent’s 334. They rushed 28 times out of 64 plays. Their combination defense was something their opponent didn’t prepare for. They implemented exemplary defense, allowing only 59% throw completion rate and 8 rush attempts.

The Saints are definitely on the top tier of the league. They are now pressured to keep winning in order to secure a spot in the Final Four, and eventually the Finals. Hopefully, they don’t run out of steam.
