The year’s NFL online betting action will make its return this September with a Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets contest. Both sides are coming off lackluster seasons and will be more than eager to kick off this year’s action. So what kind of outcome can players learning how to bet on sports expect out of this Week 1 contest? Let’s take a look at the sportsbook odds to see what they’re anticipating.
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets – Sunday, September 8th
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Betting Odds
The Bills are coming off a 6-10 season that saw them finish 3rd overall in the AFC East. All in all this was a step down from the 9-7 record the team had delivered the previous season, which saw them finish 2nd in the AFC East and qualify for a Wild Card berth. Coming off a season in which they failed to qualify, Buffalo has their work cut out for them in a division that perennially belongs to New England. The biggest of Buffalo’s woes last season were due to an inability to find a starting quarterback and an early season injury to McCoy. McCoy was an instrumental part of their success the previous season and losing him early on was a huge blow to Buffalo. Coupled with the inconsistency they suffered at quarterback and it’s no surprise to see them end up with a losing season. Nevertheless, the team can still rebuild and hope to become a serious contender with the pieces they have in play.
Players to Watch: Josh Allen (2,074 passing yards, 10 TD, 12 INT), LeSean McCoy (514 rushing yards, 3 TD, 0 F), and Zay Jones (652 receiving yards, 7 TD, 56 REC).
New York Jets
The Jets are coming off an atrocious 4-12 season that somehow managed to sink lower than the 5-11 record the franchise delivered the previous season. Now New York has had no choice but to bring in new head coach Adam Gase. Gase is coming off a brief 2-year stint with the Miami Dolphins that saw him go 23-25. Considering that Miami fired Gase following a 42-17 loss to Buffalo, it’s surprising to see New York head in this direction. There have been some dumpster fires in New York’s upper management this offseason but they still should have a future with Darnold. Whether or not Gase is able to find that future is another subject entirely.
Players to Watch: Sam Darnold (2,865 passing yards, 17 TD, 15 INT), Bilal Powell (343 rushing yards, 0 TD, 2 F), and Robby Anderson (752 receiving yards, 6 TD, 50 REC).
