Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are good at outclassing other teams when they least expect it. The Bills shut down the Redskins with a 24-9 scorecard in their last matchup. It was a stats holiday for the players since it seemed like an easy game for them. QB Josh Allen threw in a TD with 14/20 and 160 passing yards. Devin Singletary carried the ball 20 times, accumulating 95 yards. He also rushed for a picture-perfect TD. John Brown was the reception leader with 4 catches at 76 yards.

The Bills were performing optimally, going to the rush for 39 times out of 61 plays. They got 18 1st downs with a minimum of 2 penalties. Overall, they earned 268 yards and were quite generous by allowing their opponents 243 yards. The discrepancy in the score is highly indicative of play quality though. Even though the yardage gain gap was negligible, what players did with that field territory counted a lot. The Bills knew what they had to do and simply did it like a well-oiled machine.

This upcoming match will seem like another walk in the park for the Bills, who are still targeting a finals slot.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns are in deep water with their upcoming match, and they’re in danger of drowning. The Browns had just come from a confidence-shaking loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos. Their 24-19 scoreboard could have been alleviated with a last-minute TD that didn’t happen. QB Baker Mayfield went strong with 27/42 and 273 air yard contribution. He also threw a TD for good measure. Nick Chubb was able to carry the ball 20 times but didn’t score any touchdowns. He still contributed 65 yards nevertheless.

The Browns did their best in terms of offensive output but still fell short. They ran the ball 29 times in over 73 plays. Their varied offense tactic reaped them a total of 351 yards. Their defense was decent enough, holding down the opponent to 60% throw completion rate and conceding only 20 rush plays.

It’s obvious, however, that the Browns’ varied offense does not work against high-scoring teams. The remedy to this would be to put in more training and tactics into running the ball. This is a recurring flaw among low-tier teams nowadays. They are usually not keen to run with the ball.
