Buffalo Bills

The Bills turned in a 9-7 record this season to finish 2nd in the AFC East. The Pats walked away with the division thanks to their 13-3 record. And although Buffalo wasn’t able to win the East, seeing the Bills break their 18-year postseason drought is arguably even more impressive. Few sportsbook players could have foreseen Buffalo making the playoffs this season, especially with Tyrod Taylor under center. Taylor is not what you would consider a Top-5 quarterback in the NFL. But behind his 14 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and an acceptable 89.2 passer rating the Bills were able to find their way into the playoffs. Whether or not they’ll be able to overcome the Jacksonville Jaguars is another thing entirely.

If the Bills are to pull off the upset this weekend, they’ll need to find a way to overcome the Jags’ foreboding defense. In addition to their surprising record, the Jaguars managed to put together one of the best defense in the NFL. Specifically, the Jaguars finished the regular season ranking No. 1 against the pass, No. 21 against the run, and finished No. 2 in total defense. Furthermore, the Jags finished No. 1 in rushing. With that in mind, it’s clear that the Bills will need to plug the running lanes and establish their own ground game this Sunday if they are to be victorious.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags were one of 2017’s biggest surprises. Jacksonville would go on to finish the season with an eye-raising 10-6 record to finish 1st in the AFC South. In doing so Jacksonville effectively ended their own postseason drought as well, albeit theirs was only 10-years long. It must be remembered that Tom Coughlin, after being forced out of his head coaching position in New York, came over and took an executive position in Jacksonville’s organization. Subsequently, it comes as no surprise to see the Jags punching a ticket to the postseason a couple of years later. Furthermore, the type of season Jacksonville delivered has led NFL betting sportsbooks to peg them as heavy wagering favorites ahead of this weekend’s action. So, what bets should players place on this Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars matchup?

There’s not much value in taking the Jaguars straight up and it seems unlikely that the Bills will upset such a consistent team. Alternatively, players can favor Jacksonville on the spread. The Jags finished the year with a 9-7 record against the spread while the Bills are 3-4-1 against the spread on the road.
