After winning the NFC West and competing in the NFC Championship game, the Cardinals felt pretty confident about 2016. Unfortunately for Arizona, that confidence never materialized into success as the Cards would go on to finish the season with a 7-8-1 record. Much of the Cardinals failures came at the hands of the injury bug that banged up starting quarterback Carson Palmer as well as most of the starting offensive line.
Now with their starters all healed up, the Cardinals are once again confident that they can compete for a spot in the playoffs. Right now, online NFL betting sportsbooks have the Seahawks winning the NFC West with the Cardinals coming in second. However, Arizona comes into this Sunday’s contest as the odds-on favorite.
Players betting on NFL games this weekend should definitely take a shot at the above listed lines. With Detroit being pegged as the underdog, a bet on Detroit could yield considerate winnings. Likewise, it’s hard not to take a shot at the spread line considering that it’s listed as low as a point and a half.
The Lions put forth a respectable effort in 2016. After falling to 1-3 in Week 4, things started to look bleak for Detroit. However, thanks to Matt Stafford’s uncanny ability to pull the Lions out of whatever tough situation they put themselves in, Detroit managed to post an 8-1 after that dismal start. But once again the Lions fell apart, losing the final three games of the season before getting eliminated in the Wild Card round by Seattle 26-6.
The biggest setback the Lions suffered in 2016 came in Week 17, when the franchise hosted the Green Bay Packers and were facing an opportunity to win the division. But Detroit ended up letting that opportunity to slip through their fingers as the Pack would triumph over their NFC North rivals 31-24.
NFL wagering sportsbooks currently have the Lions finishing third in the division, behind the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings respectively. The Vikings had a strong start to the 2016 but crumbled away halfway through the year and there’s no real reason to expect anything different this season.
But with the Packers facing the Seahawks in Week 1, Detroit could very well get a jumpstart in the division by picking up a win over the Cardinals. Looking over the lines, it’s clear that the bookies aren’t ruling out a Detroit upset.
