Bengals vs. Steelers NFL Week 4 Spread/Over/Under Betting Picks

“Welcome to the NFL.” That is usually the most unwelcoming phrase offered to new members of the National Football League. Namely that has definitely been the case for new Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor. The rookie mentor took over one of the worst rosters in Pro football betting. Taylor and the Bengals are still searching for their first win of the season. By contrast expectations are always high in the city of Pittsburgh. With the injury to star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and a winless start the Steelers are in trouble. It’s looking like a lost season for both franchises.
Cincinnati Bengals Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Last week the Bengals lost a winnable game at Buffalo 21-17. Cincinnati is now 0-3 straight up but 2-1 with the odds. Cincy has gone under the total two times. NFL metrics go a long way to explaining the Bengals dilemma. Cincinnati is 18th for total offense and 25th for scoring. Along the same lines the Bengals defense ranks 27th in the league for both yards and points allowed. Marvin Lewis did about as well as any head coach could for the Cincinnati franchise. However, he was clearly out of answers. Taylor was left holding an empty bag.
Players to Watch: QB Andy Dalton (63% COMP, 978 YDS, 7.6 AVG, 5 TD, 3 INT, 11 SACK, 89.2 RTG), RB Joe Mixon (32 RSH, 88 YDS, 2.8 YPC, 0 TD, 7 REC, 51 YDS, 7.3 YPC, 1 TD), WR John Ross II (13 REC, 292 YDS, 22.5 YPC, 3 TD), WR Tyler Boyd (24 REC, 249 YDS, 10.4 YPC, 0 TD), DE Sam Hubbard (21 TACKLES, 2.5 SACKS), PK Randy Bullock (4-6, 6-6 XP)
Now Pittsburgh is 0-3 straight up, 1-2 vs. the odds, and 1-2 under the total. Last week was a 24-20 loss at San Francisco. Pittsburgh ranks 30th for total offense and 28th for scoring. Of great concern is a Steel Curtain defense that has gone to rust. To illuminate, the Steelers rank 29th for yards allowed and 28th for points permitted. Pittsburgh fans are increasingly fed up with head coach Mike Tomlin. But the Rooney family doesn’t fire coaches. They have only had three since 1969. How this will play out is one of the lead stories this NFL season.
Players to Watch: QB Mason Rudolph (65% COMP, 286 YDS, 4 TD, 2 INT, 86.0 RTG), RB James Conner (34 RSH, 97 YDS, 2.9 YPC, 1 TD, 11 REC, 70 YDS, 6.4 YPC, 0 TD), WR JuJu Smith Schuster (14 REC, 243 YDS, 17.4 AVG,1 TD), TE Vance McDonald (10 REC, 88 YDS, 8.8 YPC, 2 TD), PK Chris Boswell (5-5 FG, 4-4 XP)
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Numbers
10-3 ATS in their last 13 games on the road
4-3 ATS in their last 7 games at Heinz Field
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Picks
In this situation the Bengals could bring legal betting unexpected value. As was previously noted they have shown ability to get the money on the road. And the Pittsburgh defense should leave the back door open.
Score Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals 21, Pittsburgh Steelers 20
