Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons last tussled the New Orleans Saints and crushed the opposition with a 26-9 final score. QB Matt Ryan was at maximum power, doing 20/35 with 182 passing yards. He sealed the deal with 2 thrown touchdowns. Brian Hill held the ball through 20 carries. He contributed a total of 61 yards by tirelessly rushing. Julio Jones was the receiving leader, catching the ball 3 times for 79 yards.

The Atlanta Falcons faithfully put in the power of the rush. They rushed for 34 out of 70 plays. They were also high in the initiative, going as far as to implement 24 first downs. While they were held back by 7 infractions, this didn’t deter their offense in the least. The Falcons gained 317 yards, with just a minor advantage over the opponents’ 310 yards.

The Falcons didn’t focus much on defense. They allowed a 72% throw completion rate. 11 rush attempts went through their defenders. It was understandable, however, as they expected the opposition to be drowned out by their scoring engine.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers failed in their previous bid to outclass the Green Bay Packers. They ended up with a 24-16 scoreboard. Nevertheless, the players still did their best to contribute to both yardage and scoring. QB Kyle Allen was going for 28/43 with 307 passing yards. His efforts culminated in 1 thrown TD and a pick. Christian McCaffrey wasn’t about to get left behind. He dished out max effort to provide the team with 20 carries and 108 yards gained. He even scored a rushing touchdown.

DJ Moore led the receivers’ circle with 9 catches that resulted in another 120 yards. The Panthers had minimal rush attempts. They only ran for 23 out of 69 plays. The team gained 401 yards, while the opponent gained 388. While the Panthers had exemplary defense in throws (59% completion rate for opponent), they weren’t able to answer the 27 rush attempts of their opponent.

The Panthers need to find answers for rush attempts. It’s what hurt them a lot during their previous matchup. If their current opponent gets wind of their weak spot, they’ll be in a lot of trouble.
