San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers turned in a 6-10 record to finish dead last in the NFC West. However, 2017 was not all losses for San Fran, seeing as how they walked away with one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the NFL. In fact, there aren’t too many players in the NFL that Bill Belichick would rather have on his roster. For those who don’t recall, there was quite a bit of drama surrounding New England last year. Ultimately all that drama was focused on what the Pats would do with the aging Tom Brady.
Belichick wanted to show him the door and move on to his next franchise quarterback, Jimmy G. But as most NFL pundits reported, team owner Robert Kraft had different plants. Kraft had grown quite fond of Brady and did not want to part ways. This forced Belichick’s hand and allowed the Niners to get Garoppolo at below-market value. Since they went 5-0 with him, it’s safe to say that good things are on the horizon for the club.
Players to Watch: Jimmy Garoppolo (1,560 passing yards, 7 TD, 5 INT), Carlos Hyde (940 rushing yards, 8 TD, 2 F), and Marquise Goodwin (962 receiving yards, 2 TD, 56 REC).
The Vikings turned in a 13-3 record last season to win the NFC North. Furthermore, the Vikings would go on to make it all the way to the NFC Championship game where they lost 7-38 to the Eagles. Nevertheless the Vikings are hopeful that they can build on last year’s success. They’ll have to battle the Packers for the lead in the NFC North. Another injury to Aaron Rodgers would certainly help.
Players to Watch: Case Keenum (3,547 passing yards, 22 TD, 7 INT), Latavius Murray (842 rushing yards, 8 TD, 1 F), and Adam Thielen (1,276 receiving yards, 4 TD, 91 REC).
