Michigan State

The Michigan State Spartans placed last in the East Big Ten Conference with their record at 2-5 and you have to go to the west to find a team that had a better record and it was against the Illinois Fighting Illini. They may come in last but they boast owning a win over Northwestern with the final score at 29-20. It is still not clear who will be the starting QB but expect the Spartans to test out different players at that position this year. The position battle will feature Anthony Russo and Payton Thorne. This team will also have Jalen Nailor and Jayden Reed who will have bigger roles after last year.

Players to Watch: P. Thorne QB (CMP 48, ATT 85, YDS 582, CMP% 56.5, AVG 6.8, LNG 55, TD 3, INT 3, SACK 9, SYL -61, RTG 118.6), J. Simmons RB (ATT 56, YDS 219, AVG 3.9, LNG 28, TD 0), C. Heyward RB (ATT 65, YDS 200, AVG 3.1, LNG 14, TD 0), J. Nailor WR (REC 26, YDS 515, AVG 19.8, LNG 75, TD 4).

The Northwestern Wildcats were able to finish with the best record in the Big Ten Conference having defeated only two matches in nine games. This happened with Hunter Johnson sitting out most of the year and people could just imagine what could have been if their starting QB had a full season. Stepping up for Johnson was Peyton Ramsey who took the team to win their fourth bowl win in the past five seasons. Now that Ramsey won’t play this year, all eyes are on Johnson to keep the Wildcats winning tradition. He finished with a 46.3 completion before succumbing to injury.

Players to Watch: P. Ramsey QB (CMP 172, ATT 282, YDS 1733, CMP% 61, AVG 6.1, LNG 35, TD 12, INT 8, SACK 12, SYL -83, RTG 121, ATT 83, YDS 263, AVG 3.2, LNG 34, TD 3), R. Lees WR (CMP 2, ATT 2, YDS 48, CMP% 100, AVG 24, LNG 36, TD 0, INT 0, SACK 1, SYL -16, RTG 301.6), C. Porter RB (ATT 81, YDS 333, AVG 4.1, LNG 31, TD 5), R. Chiaokhiao-Bowman WR (REC 41, YDS 508, AVG 12.4, LNG 36, TD 5).
