Washington Huskies vs. Auburn Tigers – Saturday, September 1st
When: 3:30 pm ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia
Stream: ABC Sports
College Football Betting Odds:
The Washington Huskies turned in an eye-raising 10-3 record last season. In addition, the team finished 7-2 in conference play. This lead to a 2nd place ranking in the North Division in the Pac-12. Overall the season marked Chris Petersen’s 4th season with the program. Without a doubt, Washington has been making steady improvements since Petersen took over at the reigns. Petersen is hoping that this trend continues into 2018. Last season’s success culminated in an invitation to the Fiesta Bowl, where the program would face No. 9 Penn State. Despite giving it their best, the Huskies came out on the losing end 28-35. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, it’s clear Washington will be put to the test right away by facing Auburn.
Players to Watch: Jake Browning (2,719 passing yards, 19 TD, 5 INT), Myles Gaskin (1380 rushing yards, 21 TD, 6.2 AVG), and Hunter Bryant (331 receiving yards, 1 TD, 22 REC).
The Auburn Tigers turned in a 10-4 record last season to finish No. 1 overall in the West Division of the SEC. That ranking was thanks to the 7-1 record the Tigers posted in conference play. Naturally, the Tigers received an invitation to the SEC championship game where they would face No. 6 Georgia. Despite having beaten Georgia earlier in the season, the Tigers were manhandled 7-28. What’s worse is that Auburn would follow that postseason loss with another poor outing in the Peach Bowl. There they faced No. 10 UCF and despite their best efforts, came out losing 27-34. Now Auburn is ready to kick in the door on the 2018 season by taking on Washington at a neutral site.
Players to Watch: Jarrett Stidham (3,158 passing yards, 18 TD, 6 INT), Kam Martin (453 rushing yards, 2 TD, 6.1 AVG), and Ryan Davis (815 receiving yards, 5 TD, 84 REC).
