Let’s check on the NCAA betting odds to see which sports bets are the most appealing.
UCF Knights vs. UConn Huskies – Thursday, August 30th
When: 7:00 pm ET
Where: Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Connecticut
TV: ESPN U
Stream: Watch ESPN
College Football Betting Odds:
The Knights finished the 2017 season with an astounding 13-0 record. Naturally, the Knights also posted an undefeated record in American Athletic play, taking the entire conference by surprise. Few could have foreseen UCF bursting onto the scene the way they did last year. After all, they were coming off a rather meager 6-7 season. Nevertheless, after posting an undefeated record, their isn’t a program that will be taking UCF lightly in 2018. With that in mind, we can expect UCF to at least lose one game this season. But in their opener against the UConn Huskies, we can expect UCF to come out in full force.
Interestingly enough, after leading the Knights to one of their greatest seasons ever, Scott Frost would go on to accept a head coaching position at University of Nebraska. Josh Heupel will step in to fill the void. He is coming over Missouri where he served as offensive coordinator/quarterback coach last season.
Players to Watch: Mauro Manotas (24 GP, 11 G, 0 A), Alberth Elis (23 GP, 9 G, 7 A), and Romell Quioto (25 GP, 4 G, 8 A).
The Huskies are coming off a disappointing 3-9 season that saw them finish 5th in the East Division. Oddly enough, UConn had posted a 3-9 record the year before. With that in mind, it’s clear the program didn’t make much hedge way in last year’s season. Nevertheless, the program has retained head coach Randy Edsall. Obviously they’ve seen something out of him. We’ll have to see how he fared against UCF in this year’s opener.
Players to Watch: Bradley Wright-Phillips (26 GP, 16 G, 6 A), Daniel Royer (23 GP, 10 G, 2 A), and Alejandro Romero Gamarra (23 GP, 4 G, 10 A).
