Texas State Bobcats

The Texas State Bobcats are coming off a 3-9 season that included a meager 1-7 run in the Sun Belt conference. All in all this was the slightest of improvements on the 2-10 season the program had delivered the season prior. If they’re lucky, maybe they’ll finish 4-8 this time around. All jabs aside, the program is having a real hard time measuring up against the rest of the conference. To try something new in 2019, Texas State has brought in Jake Spavital as head coach. Spavital has been coaching collegiately since 2008 but this will be his first stint as head coach. All in all, Spavital has jumped around quite a bit in his career so it’ll be interesting to see how  he handles himself here leading the program. He is joined by a new cast that consists of offensive coordinator Bob Stitt and defensive coordinator Zac Spavital.

Players to Watch: Tyler Vitt (1,159 passing yards, 7 TD, 10 INT), Anthony D. Taylor (312 rushing yards, 4 TD, 3.6 AVG), and Jeremiah Haydel (326 receiving yards, 4 TD, 16 REC).

Texas A&M Aggies

In Jimbo Fisher’s 1st season as A&M’s head coach, the Aggies were able to finish 9-4 with a No. 16 nationwide ranking as well. Additionally, the program posted a 5-3 record in SEC Conference play so it’s safe to say that it was a great debut for Fisher. The team was able to finish 2nd in the West Division behind Alabama and even picked up a Gator Bowl win over NC State triumphantly 52-13. Now the program looks to build on that success in 2019 and it starts with a dominant outing over their intra-state opponent. The odds aren’t giving Texas State any hope here and neither should the bettors.

Players to Watch: Kellen Mond(3,107 passing yards, 24 TD, 9 INT), Jashaun Corbin (346 rushing yards, 1 TD, 5.7 AVG) and Quartney Davis (585 receiving yards, 7 TD, 45 REC).
