Let’s take a look at the odds before going over some potential sports bets.
Texas Longhorns vs. Maryland Terrapins – Saturday, September 1st
When: 12:00 pm ET
Where: FedEx Field, Landover, Maryland
TV: Fox Sports 1
Stream: Fox Sports Go
College Football Betting Odds:
The Longhorns turned in a 7-6 record last season that included a 5-4 performance in Big 12 play. This resulted in a 6th place ranking in the Big 12’s standings. Although they faired all right in conference play, the Longhorns would go on to miss the Big 12 championship. Not to worry as they would receive an invitation to the Texas Bowl. There they would face Missouri in a 33-16 winning effort. Texas did however, fall short in the annual Chancellor’s Spurs against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders came out on top in that one 23-27.
Players to Watch: Sam Ehlinger (1,915 passing yards, 11 TD, 7 INT), Daniel Young (373 rushing yards, 3 TD, 4.6 AVG), and Collin Johnson (765 receiving yards, 2 TD, 54 REC).
The Maryland Terrapins turned in a disappointing 4-8 season last year. Included in that losing record was another losing 2-7 performance in Big Ten play. Naturally, this lead to a poor last place ranking in the East Division of the conference. Subsequently, the Longhorns never stood a chance of cracking the conference championship. Moreover, they didn’t get invited to any Bowl Games. They did however, face No. 12 Penn State in their annual rivalry. But as was expected, the Nittany Lions pummeled the Terrapins 3-66. As for this upcoming season, DJ Durkin is hopeful he can turn this thing around in his 3rd season at the helm. So far both of his seasons have culminated in losing records. He’ll need some positive results this season lest risk being placed on the hot seat.
Players to Watch: Max Bortenschlager (1,313 passing yards, 10 TD, 5 INT), Ty Johnson (875 rushing yards, 5 TD, 6.4 AVG), and Taivon Jacobs (553 receiving yards, 5 TD, 47 REC).
