Texas A&M Aggies Vs. Clemson Tigers bettings odds and game preview

At the beginning of the season, Clemson was a top choice with Alabama to win the national championship.  And quarterback Trevor Lawrence was a leading Heisman Trophy favorite with the college football odds.  Clemson powered to a 52-14 opening night payout over Georgia Tech to look the part.  However, Lawrence was sloppy and erratic.  As a result, there are legitimate concerns about the dreaded “sophomore jinx” for the Tigers phenom.  In the same way, Texas A&M scored a 41-7 home payout in week one.  Head coach Jimbo Fisher has been recruiting gangbusters.  Hopes are high in Aggieland!

Texas A&M Aggies

Last year the Aggies nearly upset Clemson in a 28-26 home loss. Ironically enough that was the game when Trevor Lawrence emerged as a freshman sensation that would unseat Kelly Bryant. Naturally, that loss has not been forgotten by Fisher or the Aggies. On this occasion, they have their shot at revenge. Fisher is developing a program meant to take on and beat Clemson and Alabama. Namely quarterback Kellen Mond is seen as the catalyst to those hopes. Mond showed methodical improvement last year and is a junior ready to peak. An equivalent is a defense emerging as elite.

Players to Watch: QB Kellen Mond (194 YDS, 70% COMP, 7.2 AVG, 3 TD, 1 INT, 160 RTG), RB Isaiah Spiller (106 YDS, 15.1 YPC, 0 TD), RB Jashaun Corbin (103 YDS, 4.7 YPC, 1 TD), WR Quartney Davis (6 REC, 85 YDS, 14.2 YPC, 1 TD), WR Jhamon Ausbon (6 REC, 75 YDS, 12.5 YPC, 1 TD), PK Seth Small (2-2 FG, 5-5 XP)

Clemson Tigers

On the whole Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has built the nation’s only other superpower that can meet and beat Alabama. As a matter of fact, the Tigers and Crimson Tide have each won two of the last four national championships. The only worry for Clemson fans is a team that may be reading its own headlines. Lawrence certainly had that look in week one. Specifically, this week is an opportunity for Lawrence to prove he is sharp and prepared. Owing to a loaded and deep roster Clemson has a multitude of ways to win.

Players to Watch: QB Trevor Lawrence (168 YDS, 56.5% COMP, 7.3 AVG, 1 TD, 2 INT, 114.8 RTG), RB Travis Etienne (205 YDS, 17.1 YPC, 3 TD), RB Lyn J Dixon (64 YDS, 8.0 YPC, 1 TD,), RB Chez Mellusi (36 YDS, 6.0 YPC, 0 TD), WR Tee Higgins (4 REC, 98 YDS, 24.5 YPC, 1 TD)

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Clemson Tigers Betting Picks

On this occasion, we have an established national power hosting an aspiring one. Texas A&M will be a potentially strong legal betting value as a team that believes it can beat Clemson. Extending that feeling is last year’s game that the Aggies believe they should have won. In like manner, if Lawrence is sloppy again this week an upset is likely!

Score Prediction: Texas A&M 21, Clemson 20
