Tennessee Volunteers

The Volunteers are coming off a disappointing 4-8 season that saw Tennessee post a winless record in conference play. Naturally, that pitiful 0-8 record in SEC play led to a last place ranking in the East Division. Of course, the program had no option but to fire head coach Butch Jones. Jones had joined Tennessee in 2013 and was only able to deliver 2 winning seasons in his time there. It should come as no surprise to have seen the Volunteers fire him last season. Brady Hoke was brought in as interim. However, he was unable to convince management that he deserved of the job. Instead, the Volunteers will now welcome Jeremy Pruitt as their new head coach. This will be his first stint as head coach. It comes as no surprise to see the Volunteers pegged as the underdog here.

Players to Watch: Jarrett Guarantano (997 passing yards, 4 TD, 2 INT), Ty Chandler (305 rushing yards, 2 TD, 4.3 AVG), and Brandon Johnson (482 receiving yards, 1 TD, 37 REC).

West Virginia Mountaineers

The Mountaineers turned in a 7-6 season last year to finish 7th in the Big 12. Although they gave it their best, West Virginia ended up posting a 5-4 record in conference play. Subsequently, they did not receive any invites to the conference championship. They did however, get to face Utah in the Heart of Dallas Bowl in late November. That matchup ended in a disappointing 14-30 loss. Dana Holgorsen will return in his 8th season with the program. College football betting players will have an eye on him early in the year to see what we can expect.

Players to Watch: Will Grier (3,490 passing yards, 34 TD, 12 INT), Kennedy McKoy (596 rushing yards, 7 TD, 4.8 AVG), and Gary Jennings (1,096 receiving yards, 1 TD, 97 REC).
