Syracuse Orange vs. Western Michigan Broncos – Friday, August 31st
When: 6:00 pm ET
Where: Waldo Stadium, Kalamazoo, Michigan
Stream: CBS Sports
College Football Betting Odds:
The Orange are coming off a 4-8 season that saw them finish dead last in the ACC’s Atlantic Division. Syracuse found their way to that awful ranking by posting a mediocre 2-6 record. All in all it’s safe to say that Dino Babers was hoping for a more successful outing in his 2nd year at the helm. Unfortunately for Babers, Syracuse fared so poorly that they didn’t even receive an invitation to any bowl games. They did however face Boston College in their annual rivalry. But as was to be expected, the Orange came out on the short end 14-42. Moving forward, Syracuse is hoping for better results in 2018. All in all they’ve drawn a tough schedule so they’ll definitely need to pull the4mselves up by the boot straps.
Players to Watch: Eric Dungey (2,495 passing yards, 14 TD, 9 INT), Moe Neal (488 rushing yards, 1 TD, 5.3 AVG), and Devin C. Butler (327 receiving yards, 1 TD, 33 REC).
Western Michigan Broncos
The Western Michigan Broncos are coming off a 6-6 season that saw them finish 4th in the West Division of the MAC. Although they did finish at .500, there’s no denying that 2017 was a massive step down form the 13-1 season the team delivered the year before. What makes things worst, at least for Tim Lester, is that they had brought in a new coach. And while Lester’s 1st year at the helm was a bit of a letdown, he’ll have all of 2018 to prove that he’s the man for the job. A win against the Orange on opening day would certainly help him out.
Players to Watch: Jon Wassink (1,391 passing yards, 14 TD, 4 INT), Jamauri Bogan (589 rushing yards, 3 TD, 5.3 AVG), and D’Wayne Eskridge (394 receiving yards, 4 TD, 34 REC).
