College Football Betting Odds:
San Diego State Aztecs
The Aztecs are coming off a highly successful 10-3 season. Included in that eye-raising record was a 6-2 performance in the Mountain West conference. Despite the valiant record, San Diego State still ended up ranking 2nd in the West Division. Thus, they missed out on the conference tournament. However, it was still a highly successful season for head coach Rocky Long, who is in his 7th season at the helm. The season would end on a sour note nonetheless. The Aztecs had received an invitation to the Armed Forces Bowl where they faced Army in a 35-42 losing effort. The college football betting odds are siding against San Diego state in this one. It should be mentioned that SD State got the better of Stanford 20-17 last year. Maybe they’ll get the job done once again.
Players to Watch: Christian Chapman (1,873 passing yards, 13 TD, 4 INT), Juwan Washington (759 rushing yards, 7 TD, 6.0 AVG), and Fred Trevillion (327 receiving yards, 2 TD, 12 REC).
The Stanford Cardinal is coming off a disappointing 9-5 season that still saw them finish the year nationally ranked. Despite posting a 7-2 record in Pac-12 play, the Cardinal still managed to finish 1st in the North Division. Subsequently, they would face USC at the Pac-12 Championship game. There they would be defeated 28-31. Considering they would lose in the Alamo Bowl later in December, it’s clear Stanford was unable to shake that loss. Nevertheless, they look to open the season with a bang by picking up a dominant win over the Aztecs.
Players to Watch: KJ Costello (1,573 passing yards, 14 TD, 4 INT), Bryce Love (2,118 rushing yards, 19 TD, 8.1 AVG), and JJ Arcega-Whiteside (781 receiving yards, 9 TD, 48 REC).
